I sat myself down on the window seat of the master bedroom making sure I closed the door behind me. I wasn't ready to go back down to the party just yet because I was still shaken up about my experience just a few short moments before.
Travis really scared me. I was afraid for my safety as I climbed the stairs and hid. Things probably would have been much worse if Harry hadn't shown up. Now all I could think was how he saved me.
I sat on the seat and admired the moon that seemed to almost be full, but not quite. Tears were still falling down my cheeks but the crying had pretty much stopped. I didn't know where to go at that moment, but I knew I couldn't go back downstairs.
*********
My body began shaking and my eyes flew open to see Harry kneeling next to me.
"Hey," Harry said smiling a bit, "the parties over."
"Oh," I began as I sat up, still on the window seat, "Where's Olivia?" How would I get home if she already left. She probably thought that I ditched her cause I just didn't want to be there. I felt truly terrible.
"I told her that I would find you and take you home, she gave me your address. She told me to tell you that she would stay up waiting for you. She left about a half hour ago." Harry said with a raspy voice. He seemed really tired.
"Ok, so you want to get going?" I asked, standing up as Harry did the same.
"Yeah, but there's something I forgot to mention." He said and I looked up at him.
"I drive a motorcycle."
*********
"Harry, I don't know about all of this." I cringed as he buckled my helmet.
"You'll be fine." he reassured me motioning towards the motorcycle.
I sat down on the back of the bike as Harry sat on the front, being sure to tuck my dress in under me. The bike roared as Harry revved up the engine causing me to jump up, making Harry chuckle.
"You better hold on tight." He yelled over the engine as he began to drive the bike. I quickly wrapped my arms around his waist as we sped off into the night. I was frozen with fear for a good five minutes, but eventually I warmed up to the fact that I was on a dangerous vehicle going down a highway in the middle of the night with boy I barely even knew. The wind felt good blowing in my face, tossing my hair that was now falling hanging loosely under the helmet strapped on my head. I felt alive at that moment, nothing was confining me.
I unwrapped my arms from Harry's waist and slowly lifted them above my head. Harry tried to turn to see what I was doing, but quickly turned his attention back to the road.
I let my hands fly up as I began to shout. I wasn't saying anything in particular, just yelling "whoo-hoo"'s and things of that nature. It felt so free and so liberating. I could hear Harry laughing in front of me but I could tell he was enjoying this too.
We kept on like this for a long time until we turned onto a neighborhood street where all the lights were out, except for the street lights that wearily lit the dark streets. I wrapped my arms around Harry's waist once more as we headed down the street, towards my house.
We arrived in front of my house and Harry quickly hopped off of the bike, turning it off in the process, and held out his hand for me. I took his hand and jumped off the side of the bike, landing in a position where I could feel Harry's breath on my face. I looked up at him but quickly looked away feeling extremely awkward.
"Um... Thanks for the ride. I had a great time." I smiled not daring to make eye contact with him.
"Not a problem." Harry said in a quiet tone.
"Oh, and, um, thanks for saving me tonight," I said, taking a chance and looking up into his green eyes,"I don't know what would have happened if you hadn't followed Travis up."
"It was nothing." He whispered as the space between our lips began to shrink.
But of course, that couldn't happen.
My front door flew open to show Olivia walking out onto my porch.
"Nadia!", she whisper yelled,"I've been waiting for you all night! Get your ass in here!"
I quietly moaned in frustration as I stepped back from Harry. "I'll see you around." I said, heading up my porch steps.
"Yeah, goodnight." Harry said, sitting back down on his motorcycle.
*********
"So I totally ruined your potential moment with Harry." Olivia laughed as she sipped her tea. It was the next morning and I was telling Olivia about everything that had happened the night before.
"Yep, pretty much." I laughed back.
"That sucks," she said, leaning onto the kitchen table, "he could have been your knight in shinning armor!" She said in an extremely high pitched voice while batting her eyelashes.
"Definitely." I laughed again. Just then my phone went off. I grabbed it quickly and read the ID.
It was Harry.
'Hey' was all it said but it me excited.
Maybe I did like Harry.
