ALEX
The cafeteria smelled awful. I wondered how people could just sit there and eat. I held my tray tight as i looked around for somewhere to sit.
" Hey! New girl !"
I turned to face a blonde blue eyed girl with two other girls on a table. I was instantly drawn to the curly haired black girl among them. She had the prettiest eyes i had ever seen, so open... like i could discover a whole new world. She must have caught on because she locked eyes with me a bit before looking back at her meal fast. Who was she? I wanted to know.
" Come sit with us " The blonde said... no.. ordered. She ordered but i didn't care. There was enough to interest me on that table. I went to sit with them, facing the black girl who was still looking down at her meal. In honesty, i was here because of her. The others watched me closely. It felt this was going to be an interrogation. "You're wearing Vouton ".The blonde spoke again, trying to shift the others so she faced me. A statement but it seemed more like a question. Noticing now she wore Vouton too, i just nodded. Telling them my mom was Ellen Vouton was not necessary to explain now. ''My name is Allison" She was obviously their group leader or something. " These are my friends Jo and Rain. You can sit with us. I'm sure we will be good friends" Rain, her name was Rain. It was a nice unusual name. ''nice to meet you.'' i replied and munched my sandwich, trying to block out the awful smell. Gotta do what the Romans do in Rome when in Rome.
" so where you from and whats your name?" . Allison asked, picking up her lunch.
"Im Alex from Copton "
" Copton??" the chest nut colored hair beside Allison spoke.." to this small town? Whose toes did you step on??". Her name was... Jo, I think.
"Just busy parents. I moved to live with my older brother here two days ago " I don't think there are people busier than my parents.
"Well who is your brother? It is a small town" that was Allison again. ''His name is Adam. We live at the end of the Green groove street. He is pretty chill, you probably dont know him...'' I paused. They all looked at me with shocked expressions on their faces. Even Rain was looking up at me now.
''what?''.
Jo broke the silence ''Adam Vouton?'' . I nodded. Oh they knew him and i guess Vouton does something to people.
''you do have the same jet black hair....green eyes...I cant believe the alpha has a sister. We honestly never knew.'' Alpha? What was she talking about? She must have seen that i was confused because she wrinkled her nose with a sudden look of fear in her eyes and looked at Allison who cleared her throat and immediately said ''Jo... You're freaking her out. Sorry about that. Jo gets confused with her words. Adam is just... you know like a celebrity here. Every girl has a crush on him. I understand the Vouton thing now.''. They all went back to their meals, seeming confused about something.
I just ate my sandwhich. Honestly i was tired of all this. I wanted to eat in peace and preferably talk to Rain alone. What was i going to say? i didnt know. I just knew that i wanted to talk to her, be close to her, know her. It was weird but i couldnt explain it. It felt like.... No, no where was she going? Rain suddenly got up and started to walk away. The other girls looked at her, confused too. She opened the cafeteria door and was gone. No. Something inside me almost growled. Was that right? Growled? I just got up and headed for the cafeteria door knowing i was leaving Allison and Jo even more confused but i didnt care. I opened it and was pulled by the wrist by someone to the corner. I hit the wall from the back and almost lurched at whoever it was in annoyance but once i saw those brown pretty eyes, i melted. No way she had that kind of strength though. She was breathing very hard as we just stared at each other. We were the same height. Her breathing slowed down and she let my wrist go ''im sorry''.
This was the first time i heard her speak. I was in love with her voice. Gosh why was i feeling this way? Awkward much, Alex?. ''i--its okay'' i stammered, watching her eyes go back to her feet. She was the shy girl on the table again, not the strong one who pushed me against a wall with one arm. Okay i had to explain ''i was just wondering if you're okay. You just got up and left ...so i wanted to check on you'' That was true, right? At least most of it. It was normal to do too, right?.
She smiled at me. My knees wobbled. '' i just...needed some air but i am okay. '' That was my cue to probably leave her alone. I must be thining out the air she needed over here with my presence but i didn't want to go back in there. Should i say i needed air too? Alex, youre good at this. What is going on? She was just about to say something when my phone rang. Shit. Bad timing. I took it from my pocket almost angry at it. When i saw who was calling, a pang of guilt hit me hard. Jackson, my boyfriend. How did i forget in the last few minutes that i had a boyfriend and with all that he was going through now. ''I'll ..uhmm leave you to have some air. I hope we .. can get to know eachother soon. I mean talk or hang out .. or whatever''
RUIN IT, Alex. I turned the other direction, walking away as fast as i could so she would not hear me. Then i picked up the call. '' Hey Jay....''
RAIN
Jay? Who was Jay? Urgh i was eavesdropping. Maybe the call saved me. I would have said something totally crazy if it didn't. I cut off my wolf hearing and returned to the cafeteria, slowly walking back to the girls. Should i tell them? They'd think i was weird and it wasn't even right. How could it be her? I never expected this and she didn't even know what she could be.
'' What the hell, Rain?'' Ally was mad. I sat and looked down.''im sorry, Ally. I just needed some air''. She may be my friend but it was disrespectful of me to just get up and walk out the way i did in the presence of the daughter of our Beta.
'' where is Alex?'' Hearing her name made my wolf jump. I quickly calmed it down. '' she was on the phone and walked off'' I didnt bother with earlier details. I shouldn't tell them. She rolled her eyes and continued with Jo. They were talking about Alex before i came in. ''She doesnt know. Do you think she is not really related to Alpha Adam?'' Jo asked.
'' They look too much alike not to but she smells human. I can't figure it out. There is something about her and still... she seems human. You have to be careful who you blurt things out to, Jo. You know how dangerous it is. What if some gossip in the pack heard you?''
''I apologize. It was just so exciting knowing she is his sister. I assumed she was a wolf and we just couldn't tell somehow but that won't make any sense. Im just glad she didn't ask'' They kept on talking as my mind drifted off. When i saw Alex at first, i felt it. An instant connection. My wolf screamed the word I never thought I'd hear inside my head with excitement and i immediately knew ... except she was a human. That was incredibly odd. I assumed maybe my wolf was on heat or something. She would even want an attractive human. Then i found out she was the Alpha's sister. She had to be what my wolf was telling me she was. It was just too much for me to understand. I walked out, hoping she will follow and she did yet i didn't think she actually would. I almost hurt her in shock and she was so beautiful standing before me...
''Rain, are you okay?''
I almost jumped ''Yes, yes im okay''. Ally shook her head and sighed ''seriously, you've been weird and quiet all through lunch. Lets head back to class. Maybe the Alpha will shed light on this.. matter during the next meeting. Ill asked my papa too. We should also get her number after class. She is still friend worthy, wolf or not"

I followed with Jo behind Ally after school ended. Every wolf we passed by met Ally's eyes briefly before looking away in respect. Perks of being of a Beta's daughter. I was an Omega .... an Omega Ally ' saved' so i was indebted to her . How i could i even try to imagine being with... urgh i tried to shake the thought off but it was pointless. The rest of my day after lunch was the same. Thought of Alex and very confused feelings. I wanted to see her again. My wolf was looking all around, sniffing. Her scent was human but unique like everyone else's and during those moments in the cafeteria corridor with her, I mastered that smell.
That's why my wolf riled up when I started to smell her behind us. She was catching up, fast.
" Hey"
She smiled when our eyes met again and I almost lost it. Ally immediately went to her, blocking me her from my view . Urghh. "Hi again Alex. I was thinking we should exchange contact and hang out." She said, still facing her so I couldn't see her. Her heels made it worse. Ally liked her for one of two possible reasons ; Alex was a rich human who will look good in our circle for school or Alex was of Alpha bloodline and better to be close to for pack influence. It was always something for Ally but she wasn't a bad person. My wolf didn't care very much about that now though. She was mad when she blocked Alex from
om my view. I had to push my wolf down hard.
No, we cant attack Ally. Calm down.
"You mean err.. all your contacts?" I heard Alex say. That meant she wanted mine too, right?
" sure, if you want that. I'll give you all our contacts. We can help you settle and show you around. It is not always as dull as it seems here"
I want to show her around. ME. Urgh, this was not easy to handle. I turned around, trying to fight my impulses. I couldn't exactly walk away again. It was difficult but I had to look away... at least until I understood what all this really meant. I heard Alex say bye and walk away behind me. My heart ached.
Why did it really feel like this? How could she seem human and still feel like destiny?
Was it real or was i delusional? Could she really my... mate?
