"Welcome to the eighth grade!" Mrs. Martell said. That's when I saw him. Brown hair that flipped perfectly right below his eyebrows. The deepest darkest brown eyes that I could look at forever. His name was Jared Siglo. I looked over at him feeling the hurt of knowing someone like him could never like a "special" girl like me. He turned to look behind him noticing me. "Hi Hope," Jared said flashing me a brilliant smile. "Urmm. Hey Jared" I said a deep blush cascading over my face. Then Mrs. Martell decided to introduce Advanced American History to us.

Ever so often my eyes would graze upon him taking in his "big for eighth grade" arms that could wrap an 80 pound girl like me up and make me feel safe and sound. ERRRRR! The bell rang and I rushed out of the room feeling the blush on my face from just thinking something so... so lovey dovey! "Hope wait! Where do you go?" Jared called after me. "I go to Advanced Reading, you?" I replied trying to keep my calm. "Aww bummer, English. Here's my number text me sometime." "Umm uh, I mean sure." I managed to get out.

All reading all I could think about was that moment. No one had ever given me there number I always had to ask for it from a friend. I felt like a million bucks, and I thought nothing could rain on my parade. But there was a storm brewing deep in the halls of the seventh grade. Ali Martersin was ready to make it hail! Just for giving one person the wrong look things could go bad, fast!

Ali Martersini was the meanest girl I had ever encountered. Although in my eyes she wasn't all that good looking all the boys dated her and she got everything she wanted. She was the one girl who packed make-up onto her face but still everything seemed to go her way. She was in both my first and second period class. And even though it was the first day she was already planning to stir up drama. She sat behind me in class because we sat Z-A. I could feel her evil brown eyes peeling over my soul. I thought she could feel what I was thinking with her eyes that never seemed to leave my back. I felt pressured not to look back.

What she was starting hit me at lunch. I had grabbed my lunch bag and felt people sneering at me.An unrecognizable hand came behind me and touched the small of my back. "Hey baby." someone said in their deepest voice possible. I pulled away from the boy's large hand rushing down the hall. "Eww omigod I can't believe she did that." "Why would you even do that!" "You're so nasty!" The numerous voices said following me down the hall. I went from feeling like the biggest hero to a ZERO. I took my usual place between Shannon and Nessa. Nessa was my best friend she had long straight brown hair that cascaded perfectly down her shoulders. She was very funny and knew just how to make me feel better.Shannon was different she was tiny almost too small for eighth grade. She had thin blonde hair that curled into perfect spirals effortlessly. She was very funny and knew how to bring the party.

"Did it erm.. Did that really happen?" Nessa asked timidly. "Did what happen?" i asked fearing her response. "Did you really do that stuff with Ali's boyfriend Jared? Shannon asked for her. "WHAT STUFF? WHICH JARED?" I screamed. There were two Jareds in our school. The beautiful Jared Siglo who I had THE biggest crush on since 7th grade and Jared Snedley the biggest nerd ever! All he did was play video games and read books. I knew who they meant because his only fault was that he was dating Ali Martersini. "Ali was telling everyone you guys were at his house and you know did stuff." Nessa said fearing my reaction.

I knew I had to tell everyone that it wasn't true. I waited until the lunch line had died down. I pushed my half-eaten lunch in front of me. I needed a minute. Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out. This was my time to let the truth out. i stood put and placed first my right then my left foot onto the table waiting for a teacher to come. At this point all eyes were on me especially when the lunch monitor came over and asked me to get down. I lied and told her that I had to make an announcement. I turned around facing the whole lunch room considering I sat at the last table.

"I just want to start this out by saying Good Afternoon. But I have one real annoucement. Ali Martersini has started a rumor saying that Jared Siglo and I had done something which is completely ridiculous and extremely false. Isn't that true Ali?" I said fiercly.

"Yeah it was all true." She said probably due to having all eyes on her.

And that's how i won against Ali for the first time, but it wouldnt be the last.
