The neon lights lit up the club floor. It presented hundreds of newly turned 21 year olds, partying and celebrating the fact that they were finally real adults. They were bathed in flashing colors of blue, green, red and purple. To them it was gonna be the best day of their lives, it was the day that they lived for but this wasn’t the case for Anne.
She sat at one of the high chairs near the bar. Her phone in hand and earphones in.  Like everyone else she was celebrating her 21st birthday. She would rather be at home right now locked in her room watching T.V with her sister, but her friends had other plans.

“A person's 21st birthday is the peak of their lives, it's the age where they can finally live”They said to her.
“Why would you wanna stay cooped up in your room, when you can be in a club partying with us.”

They had peer pressured her to go, with all their notions on how fun it would be, but there she is sitting alone, scrolling through her instagram feed while her friends are out partying for her.
For about an hour she was alone, until she felt someone tap her shoulder. She took an earphone and heard her name being called.

“Anne?” said a deep voice,

She turned and saw it was Gabe. He went to the same university as Anne, they shared the same Biochemistry class but they didn’t talk to each other much. The only time they interacted was when they were forced to be in a group together for a project. All Anne knew about him was that he’s the type of person that likes to be the leader but he’s a bossy one.

“What are you doing here? You never struck me as the person that likes to party.”

She took her earphones out completely, put them away and placed her phone on her lap.

“ I’m here celebrating my birthday, I turned 21 two days ago, and I thought it would be fun to go to a club.”

“You thought it would be fun to be here alone” He said, letting out a little chuckle at the end.

“I'm not alone… well I am right now… but I came here with some of my friends so technically I’m not alone”
He laughed at her comment and from then on they continued to talk to each other, at first it was just small talk like school and how boring it was, but then they started telling each other personal stories. Not anything serious just some funny experiences they had as children.
Anne was kinda happy she ended up going to the club, she wasn’t dancing and drinking like her friends thought she would be doing. But the conversation she was having with Gabe was the most fun she has had in a very long time. Time was passing by so fast and before she knew it, it was already midnight.
“It’s already late, I wish I  could stay but I gotta go, I have a to attend a lecture this morning” He said looking at his wrist watch.

“Oh that's ok, education is important.”

“Is it possible for me to get your number, I would really like to keep in touch with you.”
Anne felt her face burn up but to Gabe it was unnoticeable, the constant changing of the lights prevented him noticing.

“ Uhhhh. Yeah…..sure”  she said. Her heart was pounding hard in her chest. It was weird because never in her life did she ever feel like this.

She picked up her phone from her lap and unlocked it. The phone itself felt cold in her hands and her battery percentage was at 88. The entire time she was with Game she did not even once pick up her phone for any reason. She went to her contacts to input his number.

“Ok, it's gonna be area code…”

He was cut off by the sudden sound of vibration. Anne´s phone shook in her hands. Someone was calling her but their caller ID was hidden. Thinking it was just a scam caller she hung up on them.
¨Sorry about that, can you tell me your num-¨
