My eyes flickered open from my warm sound slumber. I looked over to my left and smiled, my handsome husband; how'd I ever get so lucky to be with the most thoughtful man in all of the universe? Slowly reality set in, why was I awake? What time was it? I heard a familiar faded song "tired of being what you want me to be..." it was 3:46am and my cell phone was ringing. That's what woke me up. I scooted to the right a little to reach my phone but Carlos always grabs me tighter if i move and I admit I always turn red from the inside out.
"he...hello?" I let out a groggy, half manly woken up voice.
a hushed tone retorted, "Penny!"
"Monica? it's almost 4am why are you calling me"
"I have information and you need to come to my apartment right now, you're in danger and I think I went too far this time, please Mami, come quick, i- who are you? how'd you get in here? PENELOPE!! PENELOPE!!"
"MONICA?"
My only response was dial tone. I looked back at a now widely awake Carlos starting at me with confused eyes; in total fright and shock I jumped out of bed grabbing a coat and my keys and just as I'm about to look back and tell my husband where I'm going he takes my keys and grabs his coat, "I dunno what's going on but I'm coming with you. its late and your not going anywhere alone at this hour! Now where are we going?"
I couldn't help but blush, his Columbian accent still gets me going. "To Monica's."***
I explained the phone call and it takes 40minutes to get to her house without traffic. I just couldn't help but think maybe this was my fault. Monica was my "mole" she was a great hacker and the best type for a journalist! she never shared her background with me but I just knew I could trust her, she'd always give me great stories and with her skills she once hacked into the Colombian Police Force mainframe and gave me enough evidence to write a badass story on the drug trafficker Enriqué Balsha, who so happened to be the son of the now former Chief of the police force. The job sometimes made us targets but we knew the risks and that didn't stop us.
Monica sounded so scared on the phone
what did she find? I rattled different scenarios in my head and was quickly distracted by a soft hand on my leg.
"you're soon gonna bite a hole in your lip, mami" his voice soft and soothing like honey lotion.
"aye papi, lo siento (sorry). I'm worried about Monica. you didn't hear her on the phone, she sounded so scared, and then someone broke in her house and the line went dead. what if she's hurt? or she got information on someone and they found her? what if-" I needed to calm down, I was becoming hysterical.
"we're here"
the car was still moving, slowing down, when I opened the door and ran out the car and through her opened unhinged front door. Papers scattered, broken glass, I only realized I was bare foot when I stepped in something...wet.
My stomach dropped and I lost the taste in my mouth. Oh no, oh no no no, please no no no. I slowly look down, Monica. Dead. her blood between my toes, on my heels, under my feet. I am standing in my friends blood. I let out a scream
AHHHHHHH CARLOS, CARLOSSS
I was no longer in control of my own self, I fell to my knees, crying. Tears falling on their own, I pull Monica closer, somehow hoping that maybe my heartbeat could restart hers. I wasn't strong enough for this? was I? "why, what did you find Monica? it wasn't worth it, please come back, come back to me." I held her rocking back and fourth. Carlos came running in, his reaction shows he didn't think she'd be dead either, his eyes widen and he puts his hand to his mouth, he takes out his phone and calls the police and his partner and bestfriend Amia.
I rest my head Monica's forehead saying my last goodbye and kiss her forehead, pulling back her hair I notice her necklace
"ouu! Monica, I love your necklace!"
"thanks P! its really cool, it's actually my flashdrive, kinda neat huh? the bad guys would never know" she giggled and winked at me.
I pulled it off her neck and slipped it in my now bloody coat pocket, I needed to get to the bottom of this. What did Monica die for? What did she know?***
Time didn't make much sense right now, I was crying over her body then inside the back of an ambulance being looked over; the blood wasn't mine, the blood wasn't mine, oh no, Monica. I couldn't help it, I started panicking, but a light touch, as smooth as silk, touched my back, his green eyes reeked comfort, "it's gonna be okay Nelope" I laughed a little, I hated the that name, I wiped a tear straying down my cheek. I was almost lost in thought when Officer Madison spoke. "Uhh Mrs. Martinez? I just have 1 more question. In your statement you said that you could hear her being attacked on the phone and that's what prompted you to come to your friends rescue."
"Yes. I did, why?" I was sniffling.
"Why didn't you call the police when you got off the phone with her?"
"I - I uhm.." I bit my lip
"We tried calling but we went through the tunnel on 45th and Hazard so there was no signal. Anything else office Madison or are we done here? My wife just lost a friend" Carlos hissed at officer Madison. Why was he lying? Why didn't I call the police? Was it cause we rushed over? I had 38 minutes to call.
We got in the car and Carlos started it, the vibrating hum of my car was like liquor on the lips. Mmmmm. A silent car ride home. 6am traffic back to the house. "Why'd you lie?" I found myself breaking the silence. "What are you talking about Nelope?"
"You lied, to officer Madison about us calling the police. Why?"
"Because you don't need to be a suspect in your friends murder"
His answers were bland and to the point, he didn't even look at me when he answered. Maybe it was nothing, it wasn't anything not maybe and he was right, I didn't need to be a suspect but I did need answers; I thought while playing with Moni's necklace in my coat pocket. The thoughts ran through my mind like a toddler, up and down hyper on sugar. We pulled up in the garage. Carlos opened my door, I couldn't understand why. We're home, oh.. Monica's gone. Why? I got out the car and looked back noticing no blood was on the seats, I was silently thankful. I walked through the door my husband was holding, and bumped into the table so I could slip the necklace in my hand bag by the counter
I took off my clothes and put them in a bag to send them off to the cleaners. I walk into the bath, turning the cold water on,which seem to wake up my mourning. I let out a grief filled scream and started slapping the wall but someone grabbed me from behind and kissed my hair. "It's okay, I'm here" I turned around.
Carlos. He was in the shower with his clothes on. He took off his clothes and kicked them out on the Pearl white tiles. His body was something out of a Columbian Porn Magazine, and his tattoo from his chest to his stomach of a howling wolf with a dream catcher as the moon always seemed so fucking sexy, this man was irresistible.
"Carlos.. I can't"
"Aye, mami. Its okay" he whispers in my ear
I bite my lip, maybe sex could help?
I pulled his head down and his 6ft 2" matched my 5ft 8" effortlessly and I kissed him, desperately. Trailing my hands further and further, there it was, his dick as hard as it could possibly be, he grabs my waist and lifts me up & slowly slides his member in me. Mmm, yes, yes, yes. He bounces me. Oh fuck. My eyes are closed but I know his eyes are on me he loves watching me take all of him but I don't want to make love right now. I want... I want him to fuck me and hard. "Carlos" he slows down & focuses on listening to me "Do you want me to stop?"
Is he crazy?
"No, I want you to fuck me" I said in between breaths.
If I knew the sex demon those words unlocked I would've uttered them years ago. The grip on my thighs tightened & his force in me strengthened, each time my ecstasy moans getting louder & louder until I felt a relaxed explosion flood my entire body and mind. I wrapped my hands around my husband, I couldn't stand, my knees wouldn't allow me.
He washed my feet & took me to bed, he handed me a sleeping pill and a glass of water. I didn't argue, I took the pill, dried my skin and wrapped myself in my robe.
"I have to go to work, but I'll be back in a couple hours. I promise"
He kissed my forehead. Those pills always surprised me. They work so fast, I was practically nodding off, going, going, going; gone.
