Stupid
"Crap."
I panicked as I hastily paced down the halls. The late bell had rung 4 minutes ago and I still had yet to find my next class.
The worry and dread that was washing over me was very unpleasant as I tried not to think of the embarrassment and possible consequences that would most likely be made when I arrive at my destination.
"Hey you! Stop right there!" A voice boomed from behind me, causing me to halt in my steps immediately.
Don't make fun of me if I piss my pants or you will regret it.
"What are you doing out of class without a pass?" The urge to laugh at that rhyme was high as it took all of my willpower not to grin. A tall, balding old man was now standing in front of me.
"I... I don't know where my class is." I stuttered.
"Lost on the first day huh?" He laughed. I went from being close to wetting the floor to wanting to slap the smile off his face. "Follow me."
And I did, until we eventually reached a door at the end of the hallway.
"My name's Mr. Peterson, by the way, and I'm your vice principal." Sure explained a lot.
Once entering the door, he went to talk to my teacher, motioning for me to take a seat. I assumed that he was going to explain my tardiness to her and followed his instructions.
I scanned the room for an empty seat to sit on, finding one by the back of the room.
Desks that held two people were face to face with one another, creating one big table of 4 people.
I tried to ignore all the looks I was getting as I preoccupied myself by opening one of the books on the table to the page everyone else was on.
"Page 20."
"Thanks."
The girl sitting next to me smiled and I smiled back.
"I'm Jenna, by the way."
"Beatrice," she looked at me weirdly, "nice to meet you."
The two boys that sat across from us snickered and I looked at them with a confused expression on my face.
"Sorry, you just don't look like a Beatrice, at all." One of them spoke.
"In a good way," the other one added, "I think."
I weakly smiled at the both of them, not knowing wether to take their comments as a compliment or offence. I watched as the both of them whispered to each other, glancing at me every few seconds.
"We got it, we're calling you Jane!"
Hearing Jenna snort beside me, I diverted my attention to her. "Don't mind them, they're stupid." I laughed at her comment, looking at the two boys apologetically.
"Blondie's Drew and the other one's Tyler." Jenna explained.
"Can I have everyone's attention please." The conversation made by my other classmates slowly simmered down until only the teacher was heard.
"Please welcome our new student, Beatrice."
"Jane." I heard Tyler quietly mumble to himself, covering it with a cough. Jenna and Drew laughed silently as I blushed when everyone turned their heads my way.
Thankfully, our teacher didn't ask me to introduce myself, like Mrs. Barker in first period, so the embarrassment quickly faded.
"Please resume reading the short passage on page 20, we will have a short discussion in 5 minutes." The sound of a timer gave everyone the cue to start skimming the page.
this chapter is a very short compared to the first one, sorry for that.
