𝚆𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝙷𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚝 𝚆𝚊𝚗𝚝𝚜

Chapter One: New Girl

      The day started out as every other day had. The sun shinning down into the bay window of the Parker household kitchen as dad dances to his favorite tune, "Don't stop believin' " by Journey at the top of his lungs while mom multitasks trying gets Jessie ready for day care and wake up my brother Ashton. Jessie is my 2 year old brother and Ashton is my 18 year old brother. I'm the only girl, yay... I sat and ate my breakfast with my airpods loud and my foot tapping to the beat of some pumped up 80s tunes. I'm a little old school you'd say. My mom taps on my shoulder and I jump frightened and zoned out. She signals her hand to the door because outside my boyfriend had been waiting for me. He just recently got his license before me and won't let me forget about it haha... I put my plate in the sink and waved goodbye to my parents as I headed towards the front door. On the way down the hall I bumped into my brother coming out of his room not even close to being ready for school. It's only September and his senioritis has already kicked in lol. I waved to him and grabbed my bookbag then out the door I went. Brady was leaning against his car with his legs crossed and his shades on. I smiled and he opened the door for me. After we both got in he kissed me and said "Hell here we come" and smirked as he sped off at about 70mph. He's kind of a speed demon.

         On the way to school we picked up our friends Haleigh and Lukas. Lukas has been hitting on Haleigh since day one but she's not into it lol. We're all still good friends. The day went by pretty fast and before we knew it we were already in 6th period. 6th period is my lunch period and I usually sit alone because I don't have the same as my friends. I opened my lunch bag and my mom had packed me a huge lunch that I would never finish. While I was picking at my lunch and texting Brady I had noticed a girl with long red hair in a high ponytail, sitting by herself reading and eating a pear. She definitely had to be new because I've never seen her before. People were looking at her weird and she sat by the garbage which wasn't exactly a good look. This boy Tanner who tends to bother everyone was throwing grapes at her which was so screwed up. I got up and said "Tanner knock it off you prick. Nobody's laughing." He laughed and said "shove it Parker." I said "unless you want everyone to see those pictures of your VERY little friend that you sent Haleigh I'd suggest you fuck off." His smile turned into anger and he flipped me off then turned around. What a dick. I sat across from her and said "I'm sorry about him. He's just kind of a...." then she said "a douche?" I laughed and said "how'd you know?" She laughed and said "instinct I guess." I said "My names Vanessa Parker but my friends call me Nessa. I haven't seen you around here before, are you new?" She nodded her head, "yeah, my names Leah Winston. Me, my mom and my 2 brothers Justin and Lars just moved here about a week ago. Making friends isn't my strong point." She said nervously as she turned red and looked down at her lunch. "Well I'll be you're friend if you be mine." I said with a welcoming smile. She smiled back and shook my hand then said "Deal". The bell rung for the next period and I told her that after her last class to meet me outside by the flag pole. I want to introduce her to my favorite group of losers lol.
       
       The final bell rang and everyone in the school pretty much ran out the building like it was on fire haha. I stopped by my locker and standing there was Brady. He said " So what's the plan for today babe?" I put my books in the locker and told him I had someone i wanted them to meet. He looked confused but then I kissed him and took his hand as we headed out to the flag pole. Standing by his parked car was Lukas and Haleigh. He was still trying to woo her but no progress lol. I looked around for Leah and I finally spotted her coming out the door behind some tall kid. I waved to her and she walked over. I stood by her, facing them and said "Guys this is Leah, Leah this is Haleigh, Lukas and Brady. Pretty much the only people I hang out with." They all waved to each other and I said "She's going to be hanging out with us today, okay?" She nervously said "if that's okay with you guys. I totally don't want to intrude."  They all said it was cool then she walked off to tell her mom she'd be out with friends. When she walked away Lukas smirked and said "She's kind of hot. In like a strawberry shortcake kind of way." I shook my head and even though Haleigh continuously turned Lukas down, I could actually tell by the look on her face that she was a little jealous when he said that. Yikes.... When Leah came back over she said she was cleared to come. Lukas put his arm around Leah's shoulder and said "you can sit by me". And winked. She laughed as they walked towards Brady's car and Haleigh stood with her arms crossed and quietly mocked him. "Oh Leah I loooove you, You can sit by me" Haleigh said mockingly as she rolled her eyes and also headed towards the car too with her heels clicking loud on the concrete. Brady looked at me and said "someone's jealous." All I could do was laugh. And to think she actually had us fooled when she turned him down.
