Time for School

The two of you kept making small talk throughout the day.  What a coincidence that she happened to have all of the same classes as you, always taking a spot right next to you since you were pretty much alone normally.  You noticed she kept blinking a lot, but you assumed the air was drier than she was used to.

Eventually, the time came for any student's favorite part of the school day: lunch.  Of course, Dolli was essentially glued to your hip as you made your way to a table.  In fact, your other hip was exactly where her hand was resting.  When you found an adequate spot, Dolli let go of your hip to sit across from you.

As you both sat down, various boys passed by your table, seemingly leering at Dolli.  Some of them even stopped to watch her.  She paid them no mind, choosing to stare into your soul as you conversed, but you couldn't help but wonder.  Did she hypnotize everyone else, too?  Was she destined to rise to the top simply by sparing a glance?  And some of these guys, you had to admit, had a pretty alluring charm to them; how did she manage to ignore all of them just by talking to little ol' you?  Not to mention, how did it not hurt to look into her dark eyes?

"So, (Y/N)," she drawled, "what do kids do for fun around here?  There's gotta be something that keeps this sweet little angel sane in a small town like this!"  Dolli leaned in closer to you over the table and blinked fervently.  Wait, batting her eyelashes.  How did you not notice that sooner?  She had been batting her eyelashes at you all day, and you just thought the air was too dry! Were you really that dense?

Your embarrassment sent you into an internal panic, but you did your best to not let it show on the outside since your anxiety had already embarrassed you further earlier.  "Well, on the weekends, other kids probably often have loud, crazy parties or sleepovers.  I don't really know because I don't go to them.  Occasionally, the school holds events for the kids to go to, but that's not very often.  There are also a few places around town, if you want more options."

She giggled softly. "I meant specifically you, silly angel!"  Hold on.. Was she calling you an angel this whole time?  Was she flirting with you?  God, you were unobservant.

You struggled to find the words, but you got it soon enough.  "I usually stay home on the weekends.  I don't know, I guess I need a break from all the chaotic chatter of the classroom.  At least there's always video games and the internet to tide me over."

"Sugar, don't you ever get lonely?  Don't you ever need someone in your life?  Someone you can really talk to?" Her words struck a chord in you.  How did she figure out your insecurities so quickly?  You felt lucky that she was nice to you, because she could easily use her talent in reading people for evil.

"I guess so, but I guess I have a friend during school now, so I don't think I have to worry so much."

"Are you free this weekend?  I think I'd like to have a look around this town, and I like having you as my guide," she proposed with a wink.  Okay, this wasn't subtle anymore.  She was definitely flirting with you.  In fact, she may have just asked you out, but because you didn't want to make another blunder, you didn't want to assume she wanted to date you just because she was flirting with you and asked you to hang out on the town with her.

"I'll have to ask my mom, but I will if I can."
