"Are you with us today, Ms.Brooks?" Coming out of my daze, I shake my head and look up at my glaring calculus teacher.

I slowly nod my head. "I'm sorry Mrs. Lockwood." Looking around, I realize that the whole class is staring at me.

Blushing, I duck my head. Groaning inwardly, I look up in embrassement as the teacher countinues her lesson about calculas.

Looking up at the clock on the wall, I pray that the bell rings soon.

Thankfully minutes later the bell rings for lunch. Grabbing my book bag, I make my way towards the cafeteria.

I spot my two best friends sitting at a table near the end of the cafeteria. Making my way through the crowd, I plop down beside Avery.

Let me explain my little friend group.

First there's Avery. She is your lovable bubbly best friend. With gorgeous long red hair, muddy brown eyes and a body to die for, she is the most popular one of our little group.

Next there is Heather.
Heather is the serious one of our group. But also the funniest one with all her comebacks. She has long brown hair and stunning blue eyes.

Finally there is me. With charcoal black hair and plain blue eyes. I'm the quiet, shy one in our group. I don't talk to anyone outside our group or my family.

"So how's life?" I ask quietly as I try not so sneakily to steal one of Avery's fries.

Slapping my hand away, Avery responded sarcastically " Absolutely amazing". Rolling her eyes, Heather sighs "What now?"

"I swear that our history teacher, Mrs. Cooper absolutely detests me!" Avery exclaims loudly. A few heads turn to look at us.

Looking away quickly, my charcoal black hair makes a curtain around my face. I ask " What did she do now?"

"She gave me extra homework because I was talking in class." Avery says. "Why were you taking?" asks Heather.

"I was helping this really cute boy beside me by showing him the notes he missed." Said Avery sheepishly.

"I'm not surprised." I mumble under my breath. "What was that?" Avery asks glaring at me. "Nothing." I look up at her innocently.

Heather snorts at our exchange. The bell rings and I get up to head to class.

Finally the last bell rings and I head towards my locker. Coming close to my locker I see that there is a group of girls gossiping and giggling near it.

Nearing my locker, I hear little bits of conversations. "I can't believe he's back..."  "I hear his hotter..."

Who are they talking about? I ask internally. Getting my stuff out of the locker, I head to the school doors.

Walking out the school, sunlight hits my face as I walk towards the side walk leading to my house.

"Mom, I'm home." I mumble as I walk through the door and into the porch.
Walking out of the kitchen, Mom comes to meet me.

"How was school?" She asks. "It hasn't changed since yesterday." I reply laughing quietly.

Rolling her eyes, Mom walks back into the kitchen. Following her into the kitchen, I see Dad sitting at the table reading work emails on his phone.

"Hi Dad." I say as I pass by him to go to my room.

"Hey Kiddo." He replies. barely even glancing up at me as I pass by him.
Walking up the stairs and opening the door to my room, I see my bed beckoning me to lie down on it.

As I lay down I start to think about myself. Why am I so worthless, stupid and a disappointment. Slowly tears leak for my eyes and make their way down my face.

Putting my face in my pillows I try to muffle my hiccuping and my tears.

Trying to push all the negative thoughts away, I look at my phone to check if Avery or Heather texted me.

Realizing that there are no new notifications, I start to think that not even my friends care about me.

"Are you okay" I hear Mom ask/yell from downstairs. "I'm fine. I just read a sad part in my book." I yell back trying to stop crying.

"Okay." She replies. "Suppers in 10 minutes." She pauses  "And finish your homework!"

Getting of my bed, I wipe the last of my tears from my face and quickly finish my homework.

I head downstairs for supper. On the way downstairs my tummy lets out the biggest noise ever.

I can hear Moms laughter from the kitchen.
