INTRODUCTION
The first day of the last month- December 1st. That was when Rhea Rao was born. When she first opened her eyes to say hello to the world, her parents were taken by surprise. They were staring back at a beautiful baby with light caramel skin, sharp features - and olive green eyes. None of the members of their family, or even their extended family had any eye colour except brown. Besides, green eyes were very rare in a country like India. So the fact that their daughter had green eyes baffled them. But they weren't unhappy about it at all. Rhea's light bronze skin and green eyes didn't look incongruous on her. They actually went together quite well.
As Rhea grew up, she realised that her eyes were not the only strange things about her. She was, in fact, a cornucopia of oddities.
Rhea turned out to be an ambidextrous person. She could write with both hands with equal ease. And unlike other ambidextrous people who were usually low scorers in intelligence tests and faced other problems, Rhea was perfectly normal and was just like any other right hander in those aspects.
Another strange thing about Rhea was that she had a morbid fascination for anything associated with violence, be it movies or video games. She loved watching horror movies and found that it was more of thrill than fear that made her heart race when she watched them. In elementary school, a period of time when normal girls usually spent their leisure playing with barbies or doll houses, Rhea was on the computer playing 'grind the babies'.
Her next unique quality -she was unbelievably fast. She always emerged victorious in 100 and 200 meter dashes and her friends often joked that she was a 'friend of the wind'. In fact, she was so incredibly fast that she managed to outrun the fastest boy in her school with a distance of what seemed like metres between them.
Due to all these strange qualities, her friends often viewed her as an enigma and some people even found her weird. But out of all her peculiarities, one stood out the most. Rhea could see things other people couldn't. And those 'things' weren't often very pleasant.
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
