Cara walked around the school like a zombie. Her sling bag feeling like a sack of bricks about to bring her down. She sighed and slammed her body down onto her locker and lazily opened it.
She had stayed up all night long reading and re-reading the story of Beowulf while researching a modern day novel that could be related to it. Unfortunately, there wasn't much and she had only gotten an hour of rest before she had to get up and run for the morning bus.
Her locker squeaked open and inside were a bunch of H-letters from her friends Freida, Gale and Ornisimus.
She decided to open them later and maybe head to the school cafeteria for some pick-me-up coffee.
As soon as she stepped foot into the fluorescent blue colored room, the smell of coffee and Freshman hate entered her nostrils. Gale, her friend since elementary years, was the first to spot her. But regreted it when she took two steps forward and yanked his coffee from him.
"Uhhh... G-Good morn-"
"What's so good about it?!"
Cara took a huge gulp from her friend's galaxy latte and tossed the cup to the trash compactor. Gale chuckled and ruffled Cara's hair. They were both Literature students and had the same project. The only difference was that Gale got the easier story while Cara had gotten the Accelerator's assignments, which would mean harder and more stressful research.
"So... Uhh... How was the research?" Gale asked in the most gentle tone he could muster.
Cara tilted her head slightly then slid down the wall to sit on the floor. She pulled her knees up and sobbed. Not a real one but she was so stressed, she felt she could on the cold floor.
"Hey... Heyyy... Its okay. I'm sure you came up with something."
"Noooo! I didn't come up with anything!"
Gale shook his head and pulled Cara close. She squirmed a little then took out her Holophone. She had no messages there at least but saw a notification from Professor Courey, her English Literature instructor. Today was their presentation of past and modern day literature and that Cara would be the first to present.
"F*ck!" Cara cussed. Gale shushed her then took out his holophone. He was the second. "Cool!"
Cara was now more stressed than ever.
How the heck was she supposed to present when the only thing she could find that could have been related to Beowulf was a child's fairytale book?!
She took her project out and wanted to toss it. Inside the data keeper (USB) was her dumb presentation and a sorry excuse for a book related to the story of Beowulf.
"Hahahaha! Are you serious?! A child's book?! Hahahahaha!" Gale roared. Cara frowned and walked away from her asshole friend. She returned to her locker and opened her messages. She ignored the one from Gale and opened the first by Ornisimus:
From:OrniCorn566
To:CaraCute299Hey, Car! Its Ornisimus here with some great news! I got tickets to Witchfielder's concert! Wanna go on Saturday?! It'll just be you, me and the boys. And... Maybe even Rhea. But not sure. Anyways, reply as soon as you can! Gotta go now since the school officers might catch me again.
Cara shook her head with disdain. Saturday had a full schedule and she'd have to make another speech for Ornisimus about her friendship being true but her priorities being important.
She closed the message then opened the second message from Freida:
From:FreeFreida322
To:CaraCute299Sup car
Orni got som tickts to witcherfields concert. Small favor! He didnt invite me so can you? Id really wanna see keith there. And dont tell Ornis!Damnit. Cara thought.
She closed the messages then checked her Holo-schedules. She had 4 classes today and the next few were for her No.G-training. Cara nodded at this then placed her bag inside. She slammed the locker closed then walked to the day's belly of the bitc-beast!
Thinking to herself, Cara thought the daily line of her life,
"Bring it on."
