<David>

My alarm pounded, reminding me to take my medicine that keeps me from crashing.

Alex wasn't home, yet again.
He was supposed to be helping me with my problem, but he was usually at work or with a girl.
Not that I can't take care of myself, I can, i just need help sometimes.
If I forget to take my medicine, I'll start seeing things and acting out, completely out of it.
I hated that version of myself, but they haven't given me a medicine strong enough to change it.

I pulled myself out of my bed and opened the window. The petrichor filled my lungs as I breathed, slight rain drops every now and then.
These were my favorite days.
The beautiful calm after the storm, where the sky was still grey and the wind was soft.
And on these days, I take walks.
I walk to the pharmacy to get my medicine, then back home. That's all it consists of, but I enjoyed it.

I walked into the bathroom and there was a note from Alex on the mirror.

Pick up a few things for me bud. We need ibuprofen and soap. Get whatever you need.

-Alex

I took it off the mirror and grabbed my medicine from the cabinet, taking the last two pills.
They scratched my throat, before i took water from the faucet.
My face showed disgust. "Fuck."
I looked up at the mirror at my face. My eyes were dark, and my hair a mess. I never looked happy, unless I smiled, which was rare. I have always been absolutely pained, I don't know why.
High school was easy for me, my grades were great, i had friends, everything was okay.
Senior year is when it all went downhill.

"Get down!"
We crawled under the desks as Mr. Jonas took a gun out of his drawer and ran out into the hallway.
Only I knew about the gun, I was his most trusted student. I sat there, staring at the door.
There was someone in this school who wanted to cause terror, and pain.
The door opened again. A girl ran in with Mr. Jonas be hide her.
"Get under a table," he softly spoke.
He went to lock the door, but it was being pushed.
Shrieks of terror rang out.
And Mr. Jonas was on the ground, surrounded by blood.
Something inside me broke, and it could never be fixed.

I pulled a shirt on and threw on a jacket, not caring how my hair looked or if I shaved.
I grabbed the apartment keys and walked out of the door closing it be hide me, and locking it.

The off-white hallways looked somewhat bright today.
I took the stairs, not wanting to come in contact with people.

I smiled as the crisp air hit my face. It was a beautiful thing, really.

The wet pavement of the sidewalk calmed me. Which most things don't, so that was new.
The bright red light of the pharmacy sign lit up the area around it.
No one was out right now, it was still early, and the fog had not yet lifted.
The bell above the door jingled as I opened it.

"David! How ya been?" Mr. Goodson greeted me as always.
"Since last week? Not much better," I said with a chuckle.
"Well son, every storm runs out of rain."
I smiled an nodded.
"Hey stop stealing my quotes," a girl came from the office and beside Mr. Goodson.
"My apologies Elizabeth," he said chuckling.

She smiled and sat up on the counter, turning her self to the outside, and jumping back off. She made her way to the back of the store.
"Where are you going," he called out after her.
"To read, I'm on break!"

He laughed as she disappeared be hide another door.
"Such a sweet girl," he said taking my pills off the shelf.
"Who is she," i said looking back at her path.
"She's been working here for a few weeks now."
I never noticed her.
"She's usually here on Saturdays, but she picked up an extra shift."
And there's the reason. I didn't come in on Saturdays, only Sundays.
"Oh," i said smiling to myself.
He gave me a look. "What?"
"She's your age ya know, and incredibly smart."

My smile got bigger.
"Maybe it'll help you some to have a girl in your life Dave."
I nodded.

She came back around the corner.
Her curls falling out of her small ponytail.
"I forgot to introduce myself," she said with a smile. "I'm Elizabeth, but you can call me Liza."
I took her hand and shook it softly.
"David," i said, locking eyes with her.
She was absolutely gorgeous. A beautiful soul.

I smiled again, and it was real.
She blushed.
I made her blush. That was me.
I perked up a bit, knowing that i was the reason.
"It was nice meeting you, David," she spoke softly. It made me tingle a bit.

"You too, Liza."

I was in love.
