~Chapter 4~

Back at his hotel room Inspector William Field shivered, recalling how he had slammed the file shut and abruptly left the library. There definitely was something wrong with this village and he wanted to leave as soon as possible. He sat in his bed, not daring to fall asleep. All he could think about were the events of the day and the four words that were still floating in his mind: come to the forest. The inspector was being filled with this strange urge, he got out of bed and started pacing up and down. He looked out the window, into the dark tree-lined horizon. Without being able to explain why, he just knew that he had to go there. Right now. Field stumbled out of the hotel room and headed towards the forest. It was getting darker and darker, it really was too late to be out. But he couldn't stop looking towards the woods, being pulled along by a feeling that he couldn't control. Finally he reached the forest and entered. The trees blocked the last of the light, yet his feet still knew where to go. William was getting closer and closer to the site of Arthur Hill's death, he could tell by the chill in the air. Now he wanted to turn back, but he didn't know the way, all he knew was the path in front of him. The path that was leading him deeper and deeper into the woods. Suddenly he heard a sound and he could sense a dark presence behind him. Inspector Field was so afraid that he began to run as fast as he possibly could.
