Today's the day the Pageant arrives,
twenty-three die only one survives.
The entire population come together in shame,
as Effie Trinket calls out the first name.
"Primrose Everdeen," she calls with cheer,
but the district falls silent as I fill with fear.
She walks towards the stage all we could do was look,
as I realise her tail, that's my little duck.
"I volunteer as Tribute!" I call with a sigh,
she turns to look with a tear in her eye.
Don't worry little duck this isn't goodbye,
I take to the stage, as she begins to cry.
She holds out her hand, gives me her Pin,
but all I can say is "Don't worry little duck, I'll try to win."
Thanks for reading everyone, this is my first poem so I would really appreciate it if you could give me some feedback on it. Hopefully I'll do some more poems in the future. :D
