Chapter 11
“He was from Ireland as well, which drew me to him I guess. “ She shrugged simply as I stared incredulously at the side of her face. How could this be? Was she messing with me, hinting to her knowledge of the men living underneath our roof? That couldn’t be though… Robonna was still here. She stood securely in the corner of the room, her eyes showing my same worry although her body stayed perfectly still.
Kieran looked to me then and I didn’t quite know how to react. Pathetically, I smiled at her and apologized for the troubles she had undergone in her past years. She merely nodded and stood.
“It’s late… time for bed. Tomorrow we can go house hunting, okay?” She looked to me with those blazing eyes that now completely faded back to the boring shadows I was able to see correctly.
“Alright.” I nodded in return, not moving an inch. I needed to see Nuada and Runda, but how I had no clue.
“You’ll have to sleep out here. All your things are packed in boxes and sitting in a truck that is most likely on the curb of the home I had planned for you. It isn’t far, but it would be a hassle.” She muttered and turned to go upstairs. I watched her do so, only turning to Robonna when I heard Kieran’s bedroom door close.
“What do we do?!” I said frantically, my voice raising an octave as I spoke.
“Shush. We need to keep our heads. Pull out the paper and let’s see what we need to get done before I'm replaced.”
“Oh, Robonna. That can’t happen, I can’t do this without you! Where will you even go?”
“The dump.” She chuckled darkly then, sitting beside me as her head shook from an emotion I couldn’t specifically identify. Was it just some hysteric emotion that was running through her, or was she hiding her shock?
“I won’t let them.”
“Open the paper, Aislinn.” She ordered, looking to me sternly now.
I merely sighed and unfolded the old piece of paper, looking over the sloppy writing inside. It definitely wasn’t as pretty as the ‘Indigo’ typing, but it was legible.
“I don’t understand why I have to do all of this by myself. Why can’t I have help?”
“Runda is your help, but he can’t go running around the streets like you can. You must understand how important and mature you are. You can do this.” Robonna touched her cold fingers to mine and how I longed how her fingers could be real and how she could be who she really was rather than this robotic drone. I found the entire world ridiculous in that moment, but knew that there was no one to listen to my thoughts. “You also have Anam.” She added with a small smile. “He will guide you no matter what.”
‘That’s correct, Aislinn. I’m here for you.’
“I know that.” I said to both of them, my eyes falling to the contact Robonna and I were sharing currently. After a long moment I pulled away, holding the open paper in both hands so I could read it.
1) Gather the Robonnas.
How was I supposed to do that now? They were going to be discharged piles of metal in the next few days. All that would remain were psycho machines dedicated to their programming.
“Robonna, this plan is ruined already.”
“You leave #1 to me, alright?” She looked to me knowingly, somehow reminding me of the Kieran I had witnessed a few minutes ago.
“I’ll trust you.” I nodded and looked down once more.
2) Capture Kieran
“Well, that’ll be easy.” I cooed, shrugging my shoulders. All I would need to do is lock her in a room and wait, right?
3) Make her release the people of Ionad
“Will she really do that?” I looked up to Robonna. She was reading as well, but not saying much.
“If under the right situation.”
“What do you mean?” I cocked my eyebrow and wondered what kind of situation would bring her to such a morally incorrect action. Then it hit me. “No! I could never hurt her!”
“It has to be done.”
“Not like that! Maybe we could knock some sense into her, you know?” I tried to reason with her, but she only looked to me sadly. I didn’t want to hurt anyone, no matter what they had done.
“I'm sorry.”
4) Kill Kieran and set things right
