"Well I guess today is the day.."
Jimin stares at the big brown suitcase that rested on his bed, listening to the light rain drops coming as rain sprinkled outside.
He then sits on his bed staring down at his yellow converses. 'Today is the day I leave everything and everyone behind...' He lets out a sigh thinking more and more about it.
He never thought time could pass by so fast.
It's been a year since Jimin's parents informed him after his 17th birthday last year that he will be going away to a boarding school at the start of this school year. His parents were company CEOs and barely ever came home or had a lot of time for him. So the weekend they came home and told Jimin their plans, it nearly broke his heart making Jimin refuse to go at all costs.
His mom had explained the benefits of it and have gotten Jimin to choose the school he wanted to go to instead of forcing him to go to a random one. Jimin couldn't believe he was leaving his family and friends behind and it was tough to take at first, but for months he knew and mentally prepared himself.
But yet today, he couldn't help but feel sad.
The door slowly creaks open revealing his mother wearing a fancy black dress she usually wears for her job and her dark brown hair tied up in a bun ."Ready, Chimchim?" She calls out softly from the door. Jimin looked at her and she automatically saw the great sadness in Jimin's face and sighs.
"Jimin... You know how it's going to be, we've seen the school. We've discussed it." She walks up to him and places a comforting hand on his shoulder feeling sad as well. "I know mom, I like the school and all but it's still hard... I'm leaving everything behind today. You, dad, Sejun, the rest of my friends at school, and... home..." Jimin feels tears come out of his eyes and he sits down on his bed and puts his face in his palms.
"I know, I know but we can't stand the idea of leaving you in the house by yourself every day any longer. We want you to be safe and it's hard to know that you are when we can't be home to watch you. As CEOs and the company getting larger and larger, there's no guarantee we'll be able to visit as much as we used to Jimin." She sits beside him rubbing his back, her sadness growing as she watches her son cry.
"But I'm safe here! Sejun and his mother, they've always taken good care of me." He looks at his mother with tears in his eyes.
"I know but we've been a burden on them Jimin and you know that... We've discussed this months ago, now I want you to be strong. Even if you are leaving, you won't be gone forever. You've got summer and winter break to come back, everyone will see you again. Now cheer up, it will be fun, this is a new adventure and experience for you. The students will be nice, the teachers will be there for you and you'll be safe and watched over. You're bound to make great friends there like you did here Jimin. You're kind, talented, a good friend and you never fail to make kind friends. You're gonna get through this, please Jimin, be strong. Be strong for me." His mother takes his hand and looks him in the eye feeling tears well up in her eyes.
Jimin sniffles and holds her hand tight becoming serious.
'She's right... I can do this. I'll be strong for her and get through this.' He wipes his tears.
"You're right...I can do this. Thanks eomma." Jimin wraps his arms around her. "I know you can Chimchim." She sheds a tear and hugs him back. After they let go, her watch beeps and then she stands up.
"Ah it's 8:00, Sejun and his mother wants to have us over for breakfast before the driver comes to pick you up. Are you ready now?" She smiles warmly at him and Jimin nods his head and pulls a smile. They head downstairs and both put on rain jackets before hopping inside the car leaving.
