AN: this is my first attempt at a fan fictions soooooooo I'm guessing it will be pretty bad.

Working at a flower shop was fun and all but Ethan just wasn't feeling it today. To be honest he didn't know why he even bothered coming in today. It was kind of depressing, watching people come in to but flowers for their significant others when he could barely get a date. It was good enough for him, however, because he got to talk to his friend, and coworker, Kathryn. She was one of the only people that new Ethan was gay, and one of the only people who supported him. She often would try to set him up with other guys who came into the shop, even though they clearly weren't interested in him.

Today was a different story, however. When a man with bright red hair walked into the store looking for some flowers for his girlfriend, Ethan imedietly felt attracted to him.

"Hey Eth," Kethryn said, walking over to where he was behind the counter. "You should go help that beautiful piece of work that just walked through the door. I'll cover the cash register for you." She winked at him as he made his way over to the man.

"Hello sir, I'm Ethan," Ethan said, trying not to stare at him in a creepy way. " how may I help you today?"

The man looked over at him and Ethan was immediately taken back by his beauty. He had beautiful brown eyes and a breath taking face.

"Hey," he responded. "I'm mark. I'm looking for some flowers for my boyfriend, Sean."

Ethan's smile was deflated a bit when he said boyfriend, at least he knew he was gay now, or at least bi, but he recovered quickly with a smile and said, "Sure thing. What are they for. Anneversery, birthday, just because..." He trailed off waiting to hear marks response.

"Not exactly." He looked down, then back up at Ethan. "More of a I'm sorry that I have to break up with you, here are some flowers so that you don't kill me kind of thing."

Ethan's heart rose a little at the thought of him being single, that would mean that they could go on a date or something like that.

"Of course, sir. What kind of flowers were you think if getting him? Did you have anything in mind?"

"I was sort of hoping you could help me out with that." He looked down again and blushed. " I'm not very experienced with flowers."

Ethan nodded st him, understanding, and helped him pick out some flowers. He may have flirted a little with him but who was paying attention. (Kathryn. It was Kathryn who was paying attention.)

After a little while Mark had a "I'm sorry to break up with you, here are some flowers so you don't kill me" bouque put together. Ethan walked up to the front desk to ring him out. Kathryn looked at him mark and moved aside, winking at Ethan on her way by.

After mark had payed for his flowers and left Kathryn skipped over to Ethan and demanded details. He told her about Marks boyfriend and how they were breaking up, which made Kathryn grin, and about how that that effortlessly bantered back and forth. She immediately reacted and started dancing around, saying it was destined to be, earning  some weird looks from some of the people in the shop. Ethan just smiled at her and went back to work.

~time skip to  a couple days later cause I'm lazy~

A couple days had passed and Ethan were sitting at the registers talking about boys, as you do at work, when there was a ring at the doors and Kathryn fell silent. It was mark again. Wat was he doing here? Did he need more flowers? Ethan wondered. Immediately mark started walking up the the counter and made his was to Ethan, Kathryn had disappeared somewhere, not that it had surprised Ethan at all.

"Hey Ethan," Mark said.

"Hey," Ethan was impressed that mark remembered his name to be honest. "Need more flowers?" He asked stupidly.

"No, not today," he smiled at him. Was he blushing? " I was just wondering if you wanted to go out sometime and maybe get some coffee or something?"

Ethan blushed and looked down. "Sure," he responded after a moment." I'd like that."

Mark beamed at him and pulled out his phone to get Ethan number. "I'll text you later, okay?"

Ethan nodded, "okay."

Mark smiled at him again and started to leave. Kathryn immediately walked over to Ethan and began talking to him again, declaring that her ship had stared to sail, and that he better not sink it. Mark, having heard all of this turned back around and said, "Don't worry, I don't know any other ships that have a canon.", causing Ethan to blush and Kathryn to squeal in excitement.

"My ships," she wispered. "Will never sink."

Wowie. Was that bad? I feel like that was bad. Oh well. What's done is done.
