depressing to watch...

hey guys.
so this is gonna be one of the few times you actually see me rant on here, and i didn't expect it to come this soon, but this is something that affects everyone, and it's something that sickens me.

so for anyone who's been paying attention to the news, you'll have seen this already, but for those of you who haven't, i'll give you the basics. in Las Vegas, at 10:08 p.m. last night, a man opened fire from a hotel onto a massive country concert crowd, killing 59 so far and injuring over 500. it's one of the worst mass murders in u.s. modern history so far, and my thoughts and prayers go out to these poor souls for there pain and sorrow.

now, this is not a rant about gun control or 'soft targets' or any other political crap like that (the last thing i want is for a political firestorm to erupt in the comments, i don't even give half a shit about politics anymore, all it seems to create is hate and division over ridiculous matters). what i can't overlook is the reactions that have ensued since the event.

i am completely aware of the fact that a vast majority of people have reacted in a way that goes above and beyond, from donating blood to using their own vehicles to evacuate and transport victims. what absolutely irks me is a minority of influential individuals who have used this tragedy to forward their own political agendas and biases.

there was a comment (and pardon my language as this next bit just blows my fucking mind as to how stupid and tactless this person was) saying she had no sympathy whatsoever because these people at the concert were probably just 'gun-toting Republicans'.

wait a minute. not 12 fucking hours have passed and you want to bash DEAD AND INJURED PEOPLE for being republicans? what the straight up fuck are you thinking? i'm honestly baffled. like, i can't even wrap my mind around this, whatsoever.

another example is a comment saying how it was no surprise this shooter was a white male (now i am also aware that i may have a bit of bias on this one, because i happen to be a white male, but REALLY WOMAN? YOU COULD WAIT 12 FUCKING HOURS TO MAKE A LOW BLOW LIKE THAT? i mean come on, are you serious right now?

then there's the example of celebrities calling for gun control immediately after the incident (i'm neither advocating for gun control nor blasting it, in my opinion it's a seriously grey area that must be handled with the upmost care), but again, you couldn't wait 12 hours before you bash people over the head with calls for policy changes? way too soon, let the families mourn for their lost ones before you announce for a fucking call to arms (or i guess, call to disarm, as it were). it's fully their right to say this, but it seems just another example of somebody with a very strong voice using their influence in a very poor, tactless way.

damn, that was a long one. i just can't believe the absolute stupidity and insensitivity of some people. a tragedy like this should bring us together in helping and praying over the lost, wounded, and broken souls involved with this mess. instead, it's tearing us apart.

also, if you do have differing opinions on this, please let me know, i'd love to talk about it, please don't start shit in the comments (not that I think this'll happen, my account gets no traffic whatsoever, but just in case).

again, hope you guys are doing better than i am.

later
