I'm Arabelle, and it seemed as my life  all started when I was 4. My dad got drunk and got in an argument with mom. As usual, or as I was told, he hit her and she threatened to leave. Mom was packing her things when dad came home, drunk as normal. She grabbed me and her bags and began to sneak out the door, before he could notice. Unlucky us, he caught us out of the corner of his eye, he became running towards us. Mom sat me down and told me to run. I ran to hide behind the island in the kitchen. I peaked out to see dad beating mom. I heard her attempting to cry for help, but I soon heard no more noise.

I heard dad screaming my name, as if he knew mom had let me go. I opened the cabinet and slipped inside. I stayed in there until I heard a gun shot. I came out to see both my mother and father dead. I had no grandparents, no aunts, and no uncles. I just sat there, remembering my mothers song to calm me down.

Go to sleep and close your eyes. Dream about beautiful butterflies.

That healed themselves in the sand. In a magical, mythical, far off land

Silver legs shine so bright. Scarlet wings that lit up the night.

The moonlight will dry up all your tears. The butterflies are music to my ears.

Tonight when you start to cry, just remember mommy's lullaby.

Hush-a-bye baby, i'm almost through. The butterflies are here, and I think you knew.

Your mommy loves you, your friends do too. Sleep good tonight before you catch the flu.

Rock-a-bye baby, safe and all healed, You might see the butterflies all in a field.

Time to sleep, the butterflies say, I will see you another day.
