Prologue: Impatience

"Rebecca. We need to talk - now." The familiar voice that I had been waiting to hear broke the eerie silence that had been in my room, making me turn my head that had been busy focusing on something on the dark computer screen in front of me. The creature that stood in the doorframe of my room stared right back at me, her scarlet red eyes staring into my very soul with a gaze so cold that it could send a mere shiver up your spine, at the least. I had been awaiting her to show up like I had stated before, her tone was clearly showing many emotions of displeasure such as impatient, aggravation and many other things that even I couldn't find the word for in the slightest. It had been many days, months even since we had discussed plans to do something rather important, but I, growing too tired and corrupt with emotions, held off such things. This was the reasoning for her tone and outburst, although, it didn't make me any less annoyed that she was here while I was in the middle of working on something. I gave a tired, though more rather irritated sigh as I drew my hands even from my keyboard and turned swiftly in my desk chair, facing the female that currently accompanied me.

"Whatever could you wish to talk about, Robin? I doubt you are here to ask about my health or wish me well on my upcoming junior year in school." I replied, after what seemed like an hour-long pause that drifted between us when she first spoke. My words, unfortunately, only made her more frustrated. Robin was an interesting character, to say the least, with the temper of a bull and the gentleness of a rattlesnake, she wasn't often seen as the nicest person on the block in my book or anyone's book, for that matter. She was a black lynxif that would help you out there paint a picture of her, with scarlet red eyes and a tone that was rather cold and harsh to any person that had to be around to hear it, which was mostly me, now that I think about it. The black-furred feline stepped closer to me, a slight growl burning at the base of her throat. "Don't play dumb with me. You know exactly what I came here to talk about, we need to take care of business." She hissed, her tail lashing behind her as she spoke. Most people were afraid of her, fear of what she was truly capable of when she was angry - angrier than she was now, I may add. I was one of those people who was afraid of her, I will admit that wholeheartedly, but now, I wasn't really anymore and her nerve to complain to me made me stand up in my chair and loom over her with a scowl on my face,

"You dare come to me like you have any authority in the matter? This is not your decision and it has never been, now leave me alone! There will be no confrontation today and that is my say on the matter, Robin." I snapped at the lynx and turned away from her, sitting back down at my desk, typing away on my desktop. At times like these, Robin would grow too stubborn to deal with me anymore and leave me alone, like I ordered her too, but this time, she wouldn't be having any of it until I did something about all the trouble that has been brewing around since Tom had left our family for someone else, which for now, I do not wish to speak further of in context. She stormed closer to me, growling and unsheathing her claws, digging them into the carpeting of my room to show her anger to me even more. "How long must we wait to have this dealt with, huh? You and your deadlines, your so-called work that's been keeping you too busy. You mean your crappy YouTube channel that gets few views or your drawings that everyone thinks are nothing but childish scribbles? You're just making up stupid fucking excuses so that you can't face your problems, like always." Robin retorted and that made me pause in my actions, gritting my teeth together and glaring at her out of the corner of my eye. "Fine, you want this dealt with so badly?" I asked her and she gave a curt nod, a frown still evident on her muzzle, "Tomorrow morning. I would like to deal with this with a full night's rest. Now be gone with you, now." With that, it seemed that she was finally satisfied with my choices and left me to my lonesome in my room, staring down at my hands and wondering what tomorrow would bring.
