Hello, all!
My name is Luna, and I'm the person who runs this little project we have here. I was inspired to create the Banned Bookworms over Banned Book Week this year, when I found out that one of my books on Wattpad had been rated mature.
While I completely understand the concept, given the sheer volume of young whippersnappers who roam the unsolicited corners of this website, I feel it's about time we begin celebrating the freedom we have as authors. The freedom not only to drop the f-bomb if we'd like, and tell whatever stories are burning with passion inside of our complex imaginations, but to do so without censorship.
Before we go on, I'd like to preface with the disclaimer that here at Banned Books, we do not condone books that use their freedom of expression to promote unsavory subjects, as the freedom of storytelling ends when you use it to cause or promote harm to others. Writing books that encourage abuse, incest, self-harm (barring a character that suffers from mental health issues, which is very different and completely acceptable), rape, hatred, violence, and divisiveness will not be tolerated.
This profile will offer book reviews, contests, promotional sources, and community-building activities to the writers of Wattpad who have written books that deviate from the vanilla stories we see gobbled up so frequently, and added a bit of something else, whatever else, that makes it different and "dangerous".
Take a look at the following chapters for more information on how to become a member.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Luna Madelief
