~~Flashback~~

(Third P.O.V.)

In a dark park a little girl can be heard crying softly as a young boy about eight years old walks by. He stops at the gates to the park, worried and curious as to who is crying. The young boy decided to check it out and quietly entered the park, looking around. As the young boy started to walk around the trunk of a big willow tree, he froze. The view of a seven year old girl, with her head in her knees, crying on the wet grass made the boys chest ache.

(Little Boy P.O.V.)

Why does my chest hurt? I was unable to describe my feelings.

I've never felt this way before... what's going on? I quietly grip my shirt over my chest. Feeling bad and worried for the girl, I sit beside her. As I pull her into a hug I feel her tense up but she quickly grabs my shirt and continues crying.

"Are you okay?" I ask her as I rub her hair, remembering how my mother used to comfort me. The only response to my question is her sobs. After a few minutes of comforting her, her sobs slow to hiccups. As her hiccups slowly turn into sniffling, her breaths start slowing. However I keep holding her close to my chest as I pet her hair comfortingly. When she finally relaxes and goes quiet I try to ask her again, "Are you okay?"

Again, no response. This time I move her back so I can look at her face expecting to see watery eyes and a sad or even scared expression. What I saw, however, was a princesses face with the peaceful expression of sleep. Eyes moving softly under closed eyelids, and her dark hair reflecting the moon's glowing light.

Wow... Thoughts of her start to flit through my head. She's pretty. I can't  help but wonder what happened and where she lives. Oh, I'll tell my mother, she can help. Wait, I can't leave her here alone. I sigh as I look down at her. I notice she shivers a little so I take off my jacket, and drape it over her as I lean against the tree, pulling her with me. Mom always did say to her the ladies first. I smile down at her. Deciding to rest my eyes a little, I let my eyes flutter shut.

~~Time Skip~~

(Little Girl's P.O.V.)

I feel warm, it's nice and comforting. Where am I? Maybe I fell asleep and mommy came and brought me home.  As I sit up and rub my eyes I yawn, opening my eyes I expected to see my familiar room. However what I saw surprised me. Instead of my room I saw a boy fast asleep against the tree. I immediately recognized him as Greg from my class. As I look around I notice the sun rising over the trees in the park. Hearing Greg stirring from his sleep I turn to look back at him.

"Are you okay?" he asks me. I look down, not able to meet his gaze.

"I'm fine.." I mutter.

"Than what's wrong? Why were you so upset that you cried yourself to sleep?" Greg questions curiously.

"My grandma died..." I whisper. Next thing I know, I feel myself being pulled into a tight hug.

"It'll be okay..." Those words from Greg seem to calm me. I don't understand why.

"Hey Greg.... Can we be friends...?" I ask shyly.

"Hey.... I wanted to ask that first." Greg pouts. I giggle, He's silly. Smiling I go to stand up.

"We should probably go home... we have school today," I sigh. I really hate school.

"I'll walk you home. After all, I have to make sure the princess gets back home safely." Greg smiles as he gets up, leading me to the gates. I can't help but smile on the way home. Wait until mommy hears this one! I got a new friend and he called me a princess too!
