All characters have been aged to 15/16, apart from the bullies who are 17/18. This is a modern AU.
Beatrice Amelia 'Bea' Tremaine was Derry's own 15 year old socially awkward smart ass. She kept her heads in the books and barely spoke to anyone, unless she was preparing a well deserved clap back to Greta Keene. Derry was her empty playground, her dumping ground where everyone either thought she was the geekiest loner to ever exist or a bored teenager wanting to dangerously live on the edge.
Her mother Margot was possibly the strictest woman to ever exist in Derry, even surpassing Sonia Kaspbrak. Bea was kept on a diet of studying and being pushed to the edge with her mother constantly trying to get her to the top. Luckily, she knew how to sneak out without her noticing - but still yearned for the love of a normal mom. After her father died, a light had gone out in Bea and nothing had ever been able to replace it, a hole had been dug and never filled - leaving her empty. The accident that resulted in his death gave her a life long irrational fear of bees, despite ironically being named after the insect. The only escape she got was through her social media and being Derry's friendly neighbourhood kleptomaniac. His passing made her bitter and thinking about it nowadays gave a desperate need to chill out and smoke weed.
For a while, she was content being mostly alone (mostly, as in she used to smoke weed with Beverly Marsh, another outsider). When her habit of 'borrowing' goods gets exposed in return for helping a fellow outcast, she soon starts to realise that isolation isn't the way she wants to live anymore. Especially when she sees that a boy with annoying large glasses and a mouth like a drunken sailor has grown a morbid fascination with her, then maybe - just maybe - that hole inside her would be filled (only not in the way Richie would like).
After what intended to be a quiet walk home one night turns into a full on nightmare, Bea starts to understand that she does indeed have a purpose and vows to find out the true reason that all these kids are going missing in her town.
