"KAT WAKE UP!"

I do not want to wake up.

"IF YOU DONT GET YO BUTT DOWN HERE, I SWEAR TO GOD YOU AINT GETTING ICE CREAM ON THE WAY"

That was enough to make me bolt downstairs to the kitchen.

Mom was packing the last few snacks we might need on our way to our new home.

She looked up from the counter and sighed as she looked at me

"Why cant you wake up early and actually be ready in time?"

I shrugged. Its only 10 am.

TBH, The not getting ice cream threat, for some reason, had completely driven out the sleepiness I had a moment ago. (Was I on some Anna from frozen coffee shit?)

I looked around. The kitchen was a small room connected to the living room. On the left side was a small pathway to two bedrooms. Each completely white; white curtains, bed sheets, carpets, walls and even the doors.

There were no pictures hanging, no homey domestic furniture. A chandelier hung in the centre of the living room.

I sighed as I walked back to my temporary room. Why are hotels sooo.... weird?

We've been staying here for two days. All our stuff has already been shifted to our new house in Deston. Dad was there setting everything up and such.

Mom and Dad had seen the new house, but Alice and I hadn't even left Pasmier in our entire lives up until now so it'll be a surprise for us.

I sighed again and sat on the hotel bed, hopefully for the last time. Honestly, I was scared for this new change.

Suddenly my phone start beeped. I stood up and walked towards the side table and picked it up. I immediately smiled as I saw who the notification was from. Dad.

"Why cant chickens fly?"

I chuckled as I sat down on the bed again and started typing

"Hmmm I don't know. Why?"

I waited for his reply but when it didn't come, I put my phone down and went back to the kitchen to help Mom.

****

We were done packing, and I was waiting outside with Alice, my 16 year old sister ( she was gonna turn 17 tomorrow) beside the car. It was 12pm now.

I played with a strand of my hair that had gotten out of my messy bun. I looked down as I straightened my clothes.

I was wearing a long sleeved shirt that was white from the middle and had purple floral designed sleeves. I wore a black skirt under that, which was held up with thin suspenders. And for my legs, I wore thin leggings with my black sneakers to finish the look.

Alice, on the other hand, just had a plain white T-shirt on with light blue ripped jeans. She covered her dyed pastel purple hair with the hood of her black hoodie. Her blue eyes observing the ground like it was the best thing in the world

I really wanted to dye my hair too, since people think my platinum blonde hair is a must-touch object. But I knew mom would never let me. Now don't get that wrong she didn't want Alice to dye her hair either, but Alice being the sneaky kid she was, went out with dad on her birthday, without mom knowing and got her hair dyed.

Mom was angry. Very angry. Not at the fact that she actually dyed her hair but how she did it behind her back.

And because of that, Ladies and gentlemen, I haven't been allowed to go anywhere alone with my dad on my birthday.

I sighed once again as I impatiently kept tapping my right foot.

Alice looked up at me with a raised eyebrow. I return the gesture with a raised eyebrow of my own and saying

"Mom is gonna take 10 minutes more until she finally realizes we have to go"

I faced forward as I heard my smaller sister giggle

"Nah, bruh. 20 minutes. Tops"

"Wanna bet?" I gave her a side glance, a smirk on my face.

Her silence and a twist of her face towards the door with a concentrated look was all the clues I needed to figure out her reply was a 'Yes'. I slightly chuckled, as we continued to wait.

I checked my phone as we waited. I saw a notification indicating Dad had finally replied. I clicked on it and laughed as I read his message

"CUZ THEY TOO CHICKEN TO DO IT"

Alice furrowed her eyebrows as she came closer to see what I was laughing about. When she did, she only made a face and tsked at my sense of humor.

Mom came down after 10 minutes and made her way to the car.

I smirked as she sat down in the driver seat and started the car.

"You owe me a packet of Oreo" I said to my sis as I made my way to the seat beside Mom.

****

I couldn't keep myself from glancing outside the window. The highway was so beautiful. The sky so bright, the trees and grass so ever-green the birds soaring high up. There was grass everywhere. I was enjoying myself.

As we stopped at a Petrol station to refuel the car, I took out my phone and plugged in my earphones.
I started jamming to "Save me" BY BTS. Slightly bopping my head with the beat .

Mom came back with ice cream. Chocolate for me and cookie batter for Alice and her. The ice cream was sweet and creamy.

We came back to the road and went back on our way. I tried to observe the scenery as much as possible to try to memorize the details and use it in any of my books. I smiled to myself as I thought of what my readers would think of it.

I kept looking around, thinking of different scenarios for my stories

****

The trip lasted around 2 hours. The three of us helped ourselves to snacks throughout, laughing as we remembered a few memories or passing hilarious scenes.

When we took a left turn into a street, Mom smiled and squealed

"Our new house is on this street! You guys excited?!"

I smiled at my Mom's expression. Looking out the windows I noticed how amazing the houses were. Deston was definitely more modern than my home city. The house looked so planned and well, outstanding. I smiled to myself on the thought of our house being likewise.

Alice popped her head in-between Mom's and my seat and exclaimed

"THIS. THIS IS A LIFE CHANGING EVENT TAKING PLACE. OUR LIVES WILL NEVER BE THE SAME. BE BPREPARED FOR DANGER. ACTION. AND ROMANCE" She wiggles her eyebrows at me when she says the last word of her oh-so dramatic speech.

Mom and I just giggle at her.

The car takes a slight turn and mom parks it in the drive through. I slowly open my side door and slowly, yes slowly come out from the car.

I hear gasp from my side. Probably from Alice but im too wrapped up in admiring the view to care why she did so.
