Ten O' Clock

I opened my eyes, almost a little too quickly. There it was again ... that noise. What could possibly be making it? Why did it sound so clear, as if it was right in this room? I listened to the noise ... it sounded like it was even louder than before ... or closer.

Once again, I sat up and turned on the lamp beside my table. I glanced around the room for where it could be coming from.

Tick ...
Tock ...
Tick ...
Tock ...

The noise was definitely clearer than it was before, even if only by a little bit. I got out of bed and walked out to the kitchen, assuming it was the clock I had out there. As I walked out of the bedroom, the noise stopped suddenly. I turned and looked back to my room.

Silence. So silent you could hear a pin drop ... it was unsettling, to say the least.

As strange as this occurrence was, I desperately just wanted some sleep. Fearing that walking back into my bedroom would somehow start the noise up again, I simply made my way into my living room and curled up on the couch. I took a glance over at the kitchen clock.

Ten O' Clock.

At least I still had a chance to get some sleep before having to wake up for work in the morning. I closed my eyelids and drifted off once again.
