brad led tristan towards a small black car parked on the kerb, clicking the keys and opening the boot.
"sorry it's such a mess" brad laughed slightly, a slow blush creeping across his cheeks as he rubbed the back of his neck. the boot was full of various pieces of equipment; amps, wires, even a guitar.
"i can keep my case on my lap?" tristan suggested, surveying the mess intently, resisting the urge to ruffle brad's curls and laugh at how obliviously adorable he managed to be.
"no" brad clicked his fingers, eyes lighting up "the back seat, that's where the magic happens"
"magic?!" tristan laughed, reaching up to close the boot and following brad around to the back door. running a hand through messy locks, he peered over brad's shoulder to observe the black leather interior.
"yes, magic" brad turned, winking at the older boy and taking his case, setting it flat on the back seat. "all kinds of magic" he murmured, pressing his palms flat against tristan's stomach and pushing him back.
"magic" tristan nodded, heart rate increasing slightly at brad's proximity, stepping away to close the door.
"h-how close are you?" he stammered, shaking his head and trying to clear his brain. "your house, i mean! to here!"brad threw his head back in laughter, pushing unruly curls back from his forehead "not too far, don't worry"
a smirk pulling at the corner of his lips, brad slipped behind the wheel, turning the key in the ignition and turning to the blonde boy in the passenger seat "by the way, i've not long passed my test, i'm kind of a shit driver"
"i bet you're not that b-" tristan was cut off as the car roared to life, speeding off down the street, brakes screaming as they rounded the corner.
"fuck, sorry!" brad slammed on the brakes as they hit a red light, causing tristan to jerk forward in his seat, narrowly missing smacking his forehead off the dashboard.
"maybe don't hit it as hard?" tristan suggested, gripping onto the edges of the leather seat, knuckles white. "the brakes! i mean the brakes! nothing else!"
brad laughed again, looking across at the older boy and patting his denim clad thigh "you're not good with words, are you?"
"not today" tristan sighed, rubbing a hand across his face and through messy blonde locks.
"it's cute" brad grinned, turning back to the flickering traffic lights, slowly blinking amber then green.
a slow blush crept across tristan's cheeks, looking down and playing with the fraying seams of his jeans, blonde locks falling across his forehead and into his eyes. flicking them back, he looked up to find brad watching him as they drove, halting slightly as he tried to navigate at a slower speed.
"eyes on the road, sweetheart" tristan chuckled, cupping brad's chin and turning him back to face the road. brad grumbled to himself, knuckles white as he gripped the steering wheel, knee jerking every so often as he touched the brakes.
"we're almost there, i promise" brad muttered through gritted teeth, turning down a shaded street with tall trees down either side, slats of sunlight melting through dappled leaves. the brunette stopped, though haltingly, outside a whitewashed house with an oak door, sighing in relief and pushing messy curls back from his forehead.
"this it?" tristan asked, undoing his seatbelt and stepping out, unfurling long legs and stretching with a low groan.
"home sweet home" brad grinned, grabbing tristan's wrist and pulling him up the paving stones leading towards the front door. the blonde rolled his eyes, a smile pulling at the corner of his lips at the younger boy's apparent excitement, following him into the hall. the scent of gingerbread infused with vanilla melted through the house from the kitchen, along with the faint tang of cinnamon. "mum?" brad questioned, dropping his keys onto a small glass table adorned with a bunch of peach coloured tulips. an older woman with bright eyes and a kindly smile stepped into the doorway, wiping her hands on her flour splattered apron before opening her arms.
"bradley"
