Agony increased inside his skull.
The constant throbbing coursed in concert with the ringing volume.
Suffering and confused, a soft buzz pushed through the fog of misery in his head.
Sweet smooth humming came to him, closer and closer. Scratching at his tortured mind.
The new apparition poked through the clutter in his brain. A soft purr grew out of the fog, soothing as it came closer.
He noticed the ache was almost gone, but still lingering just behind.
It spoke to him again beckoning, calling his name clearly now. The familiar voice comforted him, hissing slightly as it rolled through his mind,
'I can ease your pains my friend'.
He absorbed the comfort that spread throughout his head. The racket subsided slightly again, it's blanket of warmth spread like tentacles.
'how, how can you help me'
He spoke in his mind, the soft voice returned to him again,
'ease their pain, we can ease all. Together'.
'The pain, it consumes me. Please help me. I hurt, always'.
'I know my friend, for I am you. We, are one, we have come to ease all pain'.
The melody, the pure pleasure of his itching mind being stroked. Delighted by the welcome guest that interrupted his suffering. It offered relief.
'Relax my friend, I'm here for you'.
He opened his eyes to a beautiful new day, the pain had subsided in his skull and troubled mind.
The man was brought out of his tortured thoughts as a soft hand brushed his shoulder.
His beautiful wife of two years set a plate of breakfast on the table were he was seated. He looked her in the eyes for the first time in weeks, she was gorgeous.
The ringing subsided and he began to eat the from the aroma coming from his food.
Food....
It had taste, the flavor surrounded his mouth. His mouth watered in bliss.
It had been months since he'd tasted anything, it caused his depression to spiral downward drastically.
The ache worsened always, he hid it well.
Knowing full well that headaches were a normal part of life, he waited for them to subside.
They had grown with each day.
His stubborn mind would not relent. Fear of doctors, their results and authority caused him to try and push the pain away. He tried to focus on other things but the ringing and pain overruled.
The new angel in his mind had eased his suffering, not completely but all the while much more bearable. It was constantly humming a soothing tone just above the constant ringing.
As soon as he finished his meal he took his wife, there on kitchen table. He ravaged her and she him. Months since their last make out session. They made love there in the middle of the room.
A few minutes later he jumped in the shower, enjoying the hot water flowing over his skin. Again, a new sensation he had not felt for far too long.
Finished bathing he walked to his office feeling better than he had in a long while.
His wife walked his way and kissed him long on the lips and spoke,
"I've missed you".
"Me to babe, I've got some work to do in the office. Let's get some lunch in town later".
She smiled as she spoke,
"K, hunny".
He sat in his leather chair and admired the view outside in comfort. Wanting this feeling of tranquility to remain.
He was half way through some legal documents when the pain began to increase return. It came in waves small at first, but the monster grew. His surroundings disappeared around him, the sounds and smells gone once more. Flooding in came the ache, pulsing with power again.
He prayed for the voice to return to him, to beckon his name and relieve his anguished mind. Consumed in agony he had to try and focus. Standing, he walked over to a bottle of cold water by the window.
He gulped water down to cool the heat. Somewhere in the back of his mind he knew he was troubled. He was sick from this pain and voice in his head.
He knew it was bad...
The thought of doctors pricking him with needles while he sat in a strait jacket had convinced him to deal with this as it came, for he was strong of mind and body.
The pleasant buzzing noise returned calling to him again, scratching the itch in his skull. It floated deep in the mist of his tortured mind drifting upwards once again to relieve the itch that dug at his skull...
