He set the glass of water on the large desk, the cool liquid did nothing to numb his head.

Envy enveloped his emotions as he stared at the empty glass in front of him.  He wished his mind would be so clear, able to process the simplest of tasks.  Instead the painful fog persisted, baracading him from the outside world.

A grandfather clock sat in the corner of the office, it's hands showed eleven thirty.  His hunger had returned as the soothing buzz in his mind continued.  It floated just close enough to balance the fury inside.  He stood, walked to the living room and called for his wife.

"Hey honey, let's go get some food"!

The beautiful woman came down the stairs a moment later wearing some white heels, slim jeans and a white blouse.  Her blond hair was up in a ponytail, revealing her face and tan skin along her neckline.  She looked so wonderful.

He wondered when he had begun to hate her.

His mind thought back to when the headaches had begun.  Frustration mounted as his fogged brain fought to think clearly, to put the pieces together.

The memory of painlessness gone, erased forever.  A lifetime of torture had replaced it,  reality ceased to exist beyond his agony.  Until today, this morning, an angel had begun to sing to him through the ring of turmoil.

Left over was the shell of a man, disconnected from life.  Processing only this moment, no longer concerned for the past or his actions there in.

He had become a bit more daring, his wife had noticed only the slightest of changes.  He pushed his limits with increasing disregard.  The comments he made ruder and more grotesque by the week.  The love she had for him excused these actions, enabling him in the process.

During lunch he seemed in a better mood, his appetite had grown.  Taking this as a good sign, she kept quite and watched him eat.  Concerned that lately he seemed dazed as he went about his daily routines.  He had shut himself in his office daily, complaining of his heavy workload.

She was concerned and said as much over lunch.

"Are you ok dear, lately you've been a bit down"?

His reply was around a bite of food.

"I'm good hun, it's just work".

She was unconvinced.

He was strong, loving and articulate.  He'd be fine...

The trip back to their home was silent.  Talks with him had become less and less.  Her worries increased daily as well, confronting him earlier had done nothing to ease her tension.  Arguing over the problem seemed futile, he'd eventually come around.

His mind on auto pilot, he pulled in the garage and stopped.  His wife opened the car door and got out.

He had stayed in the driver's seat, eyes locked strait ahead on the wall through the windshield.  She watched him for what felt like minutes, he never blinked.

Concerned, she called to him.

"Hey babe, you coming"?

His stare continued, never blinking.  She began to shake as she watched her husband blankly stare at the white wall.  This time she spoke louder.

"Honey, we're home.  Come on please"!

Nothing, not even a tick.  She called again and poked him cautiously on the shoulder.

The touch had awoken a monster.

  He screamed!

The sound of a mad gorilla, long deep and loud bounced around the garage.  His wife jumped back against the side wall, fear evident in her features as she shook.  His stare never broke as the growl continued until he had spent all the air in his lungs.  His body inhaled a deep lung full of air as he twisted his head and looked directly at her.

A look of madness flowed out of his deep blue eyes.  His body quaked as his stare bore through her.  She trembled from the look of hatred he displayed.  Her body slid involuntarily downward towards the floor of the garage.

Suddenly, his mind snapped out if it.  Her husband's features softened, his eyes cleared.

He spoke first.

"What happened"?

"You, you.  You scared me.  You,.".

He cut in.

"I'm not sure what happened either, I just blanked out.  I think I just need some rest".

She looked unconvinced shaking on the garage floor.  That had startled her, she had never seen him like that.  The fury in his eyes, it grew as he looked at her.

Unsure what to do, she hoped it was a freak incident caused by stress.

He just needed to relax, maybe a vacation....
