" About five years ago my father was M.I.A or Missing In Action. At the time I didn't know what was wrong but I could tell something was wrong with my Mother.

My mother is a very thin lady. Her eyes are spring waterfalls, her hair is a soft brown, it is unlikely for it to ever become curly. Her mouth only said the kindest things even when I be naughty. And her hands are tenders and soft, with only the tips of her nails painted white.

But now she's different. Her eyes are no longer spring waterfalls they are now dried up rocks. Her hair is now forever in knots and tangles. And her soft voice is now a wimper, she crys. She no longer keeps the house tidy, she no longer has a smiling face, and she no longer smiles for me.

I didn't understand what was wrong as no one would tell me. I  soon became trapped in a world of my own.

From the day we got the letter my Mother was different.  I tried to be brave and comfort  her but it only ended up badly.

I remember one time, when mum hit me. It was for the silliest thing, I was taking a look at the photo of dad, mum and me. Mum said it was for my own good, she said that looking at photos bring painful memories. I couldn't understand and I dy idn't want to understand.

The only thing I understood was that my loving, kind, caring mother is no longer Loving, kind or caring.

A while later...

Mum said she remembers the last time she saw dad. But I really doubt it. Over the next 9 months or so my Mother has had a lot of boy friends and they did a lot of things they shouldnt have. They were all jerks except for John. John was like my 2nd father, he was the guy I was missing in my life. He had soft shaggy brown hair, with tender brown eyes. He had a perfect face to a 7 year old. One night John left with most of our cash and valuables. We never saw or heard from him again.

A few days later mum felt sick in fact she was sick. A lot.
I felt sorry for her and I wanted to help her just like the times she helped me. But It was to hard of a job for me. Luckily Mrs Patterson ( the nice old lady who lives across the street) Found out about mums vomiting problem and booked her a docters appointment. At first Mum didn't want to go, but she was getting was by the minute so she went.

I don't know if the news was bad or not. But it turn out that mum was pregnant with another baby!
