Mum's stomach began to grow over time. It looked like she had swallowed a beach ball. I didn't mind her being pregnant, I have always wanted a little sister.

Mum would often tell me that when the new baby comes she would have to give it alot of attention as the baby couldn't take care of its self. I always just nodded my head and pretended that I knew what it ment. But I was to young to really understand.

One night when my grandma and grandpa came to visit things went really bad for mum. She kept saying that her water broke or something like that. She was screaming so loud that the cat ( coco) ran away.

Mum was rushed to hospital by grandpa. Grandma and I drove with mums car to the super market to buy dinner.  I was allowed a bar of chocolate for dessert.

We drove peacefully back to the hospital. Grandma looked really worried, she kept muttering to herself.  At one stage she just said "  You know grandma loves you very much and that you are grannys little angel" . I nodded. " And this baby is going to need love as well, but that doesn't mean that I love you any less okay" said grandma
I just nodded.

" Is mummy alright?" I asked

Grandma didn't answer.

We drove in silence the rest of the way to the hospital.

Once there I dug into my sandwiches and my chocolate bar. They were really good.

Grandma went over to the counter and said something to the lady. The lady nodded. Grandma walked off through the doors before turning around and saying " are you coming to meet your baby brother?".

I shoot up. I couldn't wait to meet him. I replyed the words in my mind. A baby brother is a BOY! I didn't want a baby brother.

I stopped in my tracks. " Grandma, I don't want a baby brother"

Grandma turned around and laughed, " come on" she said still laughing.

When the doors opened, I felt disappointed and excited. I really wanted a baby sister. Maybe they would exchange it for a boy? I raced into the room to show mum that I wasn't a bit sad.

The room smelt like chemicals and ice cream. In the corner of the room next to the window on a blue cover single bed lay mum. She was holding something. Grandpa stood shaking his head. I ran closer. Mum had tear in her spring eyes. Grandpa did too.  I felt the crying as well.

Grandpa pulled grandma aside. I was left with mum.

" Mum?" I said " is everything alright?"

Mum looked at me before looking at the baby.

" This is your baby brother" said mum

She pulled down the covers a bit to reveal a teeny tiny baby.

He was so small!!
