- LUCY'S P.O.V. -
The guild seems so... deserted. For this early in the morning.
No, really.
The only people left was probably Mira, and some others who were drinking their lives away, singing. Thankfully, their presence made the guild seem 'normal', and by normal, I mean the lively normal. I don't really know where the others are, but I'm starting to get suspicious.
I did ask Natsu if we were going on a job anytime soon, because you know me and my rent, and all he replied with was "No, not the time!" And ran off with Happy in tow. Everyone seemed to go on solo jobs these days, and the only people I'd see was Erza, Master, Mira, Macao, Wakaba, and some other guild members. I went and sat in front of Mira, who was slouched on the table with her hand supporting her face.
"Mira, where are the others?" I asked, extending my arms on the table.
"Oh, Lucy. They're out doing jobs and training, I guess." She answered.
"Training? For what?" I tilted my head scrunched my eyebrows.
"Oh, right! You've never experienced or heard about the S-Class Mage Promotion Trial!" Mira exclaimed, placing a finger up in the air.
"The what now?"
"The S-Class Mage Promotion Trial is an annual tradition wherein 8 participants will be selected to become an S-Class Mage and those participants will choose a partner who will be with them during the trials. Then, the participants will undergo several trials until only one participant is left, and that person will be promoted to S-Class!" She explained happily, clasping her hands together. "Unfortunately, there was no successful participant last year, so hopefully one will be chosen this year!"
The newfound information shocked me and worried me a bit. God, am I the only one who isn't exerting effort? "Well then, I should go do my best too!" I pumped my fist in the air animatedly.
Mira just nodded in return before saying, "The only people who have passed is Gildarts, Laxus at 17, Me when I was 16, Mystogan, and Erza, the youngest to ever be promoted to S-Class, only at 15!"
My eyes widened in awe. I expected nothing less of Erza.
"Well, you should be on your way now to train!" Mira said before bidding goodbye. I just continued to slouch on the table for a few minutes, before heading to the request board for some high paying easy jobs- the best kinds. I took the one about catching a gang of thieves, 65,000 jewels per thief and informed Mira.
I quickly headed to the respective place, and hoped that I could finish the job.
- TIMESKIP -
I had just finished my third job of the day, and I feel like I am going to give in to sleep.
Catching the thieves was relatively easy, so was finding the fire that started the smoke that caused people to disappear. But chasing four wild cats of a rich man was no easy task. It completely drained me out.
My face was pressed against my soft pillow, and before I knew it, I had fallen asleep.
- THE NEXT DAY -
First thing in the morning, almost every member of Fairy Tail had gathered in the guild hall, waiting for the announcement. Many of the recent members- like Gajeel, Juvia and Wendy were quite oblivious to the S-Class Mage Promotion Trial. Hence they were not able to try and prove themselves or train even once. Good thing I asked Mira.
I walked up closer in front so I could clearly hear what master was saying, standing next to the aforementioned blue haired woman who was ogling Gray.
