"mills, focus here,"

an exasperated sigh, that'd been hidden in millie's throat for the past two hours, ultimately unbound as her slim fingers fumble with the metabolic edge of her pencil, segregating the eraser and the attenuated wood

iris frowned, depositing the soporific tome with slight hesitation atop of the shabby booth they occupied

for someone who cares about her grades and asked me to help her study, she doesn't seem too focused

iris rested her tired head against her palms as her bare elbows took their dwelling on the tabletop, utterly jaded

continuing to bide in her tranquil, stagnant expression, millie then diverted her efforts solely on the notion of alleviating the plight of iris becoming further agitated

she didn't care for contributing in the supplementary of her frustration

so in quite contrast to what she'd prefer to, her eyes snuck a glance at iris's olive toned hands shadowing her face from view as millie's prim fingertips tucked underneath the rear cover, tugging it towards her, fluently agile

her thumb raked against the edge of the crisp pages, causing friction as she then returned to their previous page

"alright, flower, i think i may have questions one through five completely —"

"millie, just stop," iris interjects, concluding with a wasted moan "you and i both know you aren't going to retain anything as long as you're uninterested."

millie's brows fold ever so slightly, as her eyes read her lips flawlessly, although she'd been wholly aware that her statement was in fact verifiably accurate the undivided time

with a crossing of her petite arms, iris relaxed in the booth, giving millie a familiar glance that she dreaded, one that scolded her for thinking she couldn't discuss her thoughts with her companion like always

"talk."

millie dismissed her ponder with a careless shrug as her pupils shifted from and to every factor of the quaint shop, other than the girl herself

"you're 16 in 12th grade mills, this chem is the only thing you seem to lack knowledge of, and you have finals approaching way too fast,"

millie eyed her lips as she ranted, but she knew iris had kept eye contact the entire time making her anxious

her anxiety abruptly overwhelming her thoughts and source of concentration, she found her mind scurrying for other situations and topics to discuss inwardly

red's a pretty shade on iris, why doesn't she wear it more often?

"i know you millie, i know you're stressed out tremendously wanting to prove yourself to everyone that you can graduate at 16 with hard work, and i know your capability and that you'll accomplish it,"

millie's thoughts cloud with heavy hearted notions as iris struggles to fondle her curls, she too was anxious

it worried iris more than millie was familiar with at the fact that she wasn't focused for once, that she was so nonchalant ; that isn't millie
