'Ugh' I thought, as the alarm clock on my shitty Sony Xperia phone, went off.

It was my first day in a new, more pretentious secondary school, although no better than any other school. As I acquired the energy I needed to lift my arm to silence my phone, I had a sudden realisation of what was ahead of me.

Just as I turned my alarm off my mam walked into my room and started to talk to me as if I was looking forward to my first day, which I certainly was not. "Ali, come on Babe, it's your first day, aren't you excited?!" She asked me to which I replied "Oh of course, I've never been so excited in my life!" sarcastically. "Just get up Darling, I promise it'll be okay." She told me, then walked out of the room.

After she left, I got up and looked in my wardrobe to find a befitting outfit for the day in front of me. Initially I thought a pair of olive khaki's and a matching tee would do, but I decided on a pair of black ripped skinny jeans, a red button down flannel with a pair of red converse. I knew it was different from what most fifteen year old girls were wearing at the time but that's why I liked it, I liked being unique; not mainstream.

As soon as I got dressed I sprinted down the stairs to find my mam pouring a jug of milk into a bowl of Coco Pops, which I ate for breakfast but only because she made me.

"Let's go baby, you don't wanna be late."

"Yeah sure, just give me a sec." I replied.

We got into her car, a black '05 Mercedes-Benz, which she kept spotlessly clean since it was her baby. I got into the passenger seat and took my iPod from my pocket, and put may earphones into each ear. I shuffled through the iPod to find a song I actually liked and found 'Lithium' by Nirvana, my favourite band. Mam didn't mind that I was practically ignoring her since we never talked, but I couldn't help but feel like an ignorant bitch.

We arrived at school approximately twenty minutes later and just sat there for a minute or two.

"Goodbye Ali, I love you!"

"Love you too, mam!"

I got out of the car, almost reluctantly, and headed towards the front door of the school. I walked in the door where a found the reception and asked where I should I go. I was told to go and directed to the lockers, where I sorted out my books for my first three classes, English, History and Maths.

I headed to my first class, English, where I was ten minutes early. I sat there thinking how desperate I was to make some friends, and how all of my prior friendships all failed. Just as I drifted away from my thoughts, a woman walked into the room, but not just any woman; a different one.
