Ashes covered the ground, turning the world a darker shade of grey, as Gabriel Reyes trudged through the thick mountains of ash, his face was bruised, and his body was peppered with bullet holes.

He thought to himself, "Is this the end? Am I gonna die here?"

Suddenly, a blinding light appeared before him, as the seemingly endless amounts grey ash seemed to dissipate into nothing, he thought aloud, "Is god here to take me?"

"No, now get up, I need to bring you back to headquarters to patch you up."

Reyes took a moment to process what he heard, before looking up, to see the one and only, Angela Ziegler, aka Mercy.

"Come on, get up. We must leave quickly, Strike-Commander Morrison has already retreated with the squad. There are still more omnics around and in your shape, they'll be ripping you to shreds, not the other way around." Angela said.

Reyes grunted, shifting his weight off to his still functional leg, before moving to prop himself behind a wall, as he noticed something in the distance.

He pulled out his pistol, a good old fashioned IMI Desert Eagle, he checked his ammunition, "Damn, only got a bullet left."

"Are you crazy? Fighting in your condition is life-threatening even with your enhancements."

"Ziegler, unless you want one of our heads blasted off by a stupid omnic we forgot to deal with while trying to escape, we need to at least clear the area first before leaving. Besides, I don't leave stragglers behind."

Angela groaned, realising that Reyes wasn't gonna listen, before picking up her Caduceus staff and pistol, preparing for battle. "Here, take this. No point of you being a bigger burden to me than you already are. Kill them for me please. I'm still not used to using a weapon used to kill.", as she handed him her pistol.

"I will be watching over you.", she shouted as she flew up into the air, her suit's wings spreading.

Reyes felt a warm, golden aura envelope him, as he saw his minor injuries disappear. However, the Caduceus staff had its limitations. It couldn't heal his broken leg immediately, and he still had a few wounds, but the heal should be good enough to allow him to maneuver to an extent. He gripped Angela's weapon, as he jumped into the fray, barely flinching when he felt the jolt from his broken leg.

And with pinpoint accuracy, he tore through the omnics, doing exactly as he promised, no stragglers behind.

"Now let's head back to headquarters. You have sustained even more injuries and I would like to have a look at your internal organs to make sure that a bullet hasn't pierced into them." Angela said, as she fluttered down from the sky, letting her wings slow her fall.

"Yeah. Sorry about that." Reyes replied. She sighed, before grabbing him by the arm and lifting into the air once again, but this time, heading back home.
