Also my other 3 year old niece goes to therapy bc she's been through some crap and she will tell the therapist things she never tells her parents.
3 y/o: Sometimes when I'm sad I scratch myself
Her parents have never seen her scratch herself, and they have no idea where she learned that from but it was just kinda funny. You had to be there.
Also, my 7 year old and 10 year old nieces had a disturbing conversation
7 y/o: Sometimes I try to scratch myself to bleed but I don't hate myself enough
10 y/o: yeah, you have to hate yourself a lot and have bad things happen to you like getting bad grades.
7 y/o: yeah
Like, excuse me that is completely inappropriate to talk about. You should not be talking about that at that age and if my children talked like that I would have a talk with them about self-harm and how we should go about the matter in an appropriate manner. people should not dismiss their children when they talk about sensitive/inappropriate topics like that, they need to educate them on it and make sure they understand the matter properly and how serious it is and how they should go about the subject in a serious appropriate manner. 7 and 10 year olds should not be talking like this and getting away with it.
Sorry for the rant, it just annoys me.
