The Tower was echoing vivdly with the growls of the legions. Just like most of the creature of the dark, they became aware of someone’s presence almost instantly. Chirac and I quietly followed the Valdors which we noticed, as we marched in, were not just two in number.
The prison cell on the top floor of the Tower was a small and creepy place with a wooden framed glass window and five legions locked on either side. Their black leathery wings were cluttered uncomfortably in the mini cells, their beefy stature tightly packed. It smelled like manure and urine, with a sharper stench than that of the humans. The legions snarled at Chirac with glowing green eyes, trying to rouse him while I tried to not to run away.
“Would you want us to stay with you?” the Valdor asked
“Ye-“
“No,” Chirac spoke
I looked at him in astonishment. This was the first word he spoke and that too something against us our favor. Like it or not but legions were powerful and heartless, and we both could barely put a fight with ten of them.
“I asked the Lady, not you” the Valdor said
“I am her older brother so I get to make a decision”
The Valdor heaved up his arm that was equipped with a machete and this was my cue to intervene keeping my fears at bay.
“Thank you but do as my brother says,” I said softly, “it is what I desire too. Besides Dina wanted me to take care of them, so you can take rest for the meanwhile. I will call for help if need be.”
“As you say.”
With that they left the cell and stood outside, guarding the door. I let out a breath of relief.
“Will you please not try to pick a fight?” I questioned
“We are not safe here,” he replied blankly
“This is Dina’s Tower; if it weren’t safe she wouldn’t have asked me to come here in the first place.”
“That woman is a mystery Maya; we don’t have a clue as to what she has in mind.”
“Sometimes brother, you have to trust people.”
“But that is what makes us frail- to trust someone more than your instinct,” he reasoned, “we both know we are no match if somehow the jail doors break open.”
“When we can’t control the situation, it is better to put our trust in some complete stranger and move forward. It might hurt us, but it is sensible,” I said, repeating what he explained me once
I shifted my attention back to the roaring creatures that were making me feel hollow inside. I tried to look away, because looking into their eyes was simply threatening. Their claws were scratching on the dull marble floor with a loud squeal that was bothering my ears. What was I doing here?
I sat by the window while Chirac strolled causally, studying each and every legion. They furiously sneered at him, trying hard to catch him with their limited movement. I will not say he was enjoying himself here, but he sure was keeping himself busy.

Dina came in an hour later when I felt completely drained out of any good that I had in me by this sinister place. She had brought the Hyzberda, which is a rare herb that would darken my complexion and also protect me from the sun. Hyzberda was basically pink stems which was supposed to be burnt in the fire and then crushed to apply on the body; its name was what Dina came up with on her own because it was over ten millennium old with no name back then and nonexistent now. One stem was enough to keep me good for almost a month, and she had gotten me two branches with over a fifty stems. With the stem also came it's bright peach coloured oval fruit which was toxicated just to protect the stems. Dina must have thrown it away then and there, because it would have infected me if merely touched it.
She was the one who had been bringing it to me as a gift in the past until now when I really need and have to beg her for it.
“Why’d you ask me to look after your monsters?” I questioned her as we moved to her visitor’s room, “I mean I did nothing than sitting by the window and stare outside.”
“I thought you might grow fond of them,” she answered, offering me animal’s blood in a wineglass
Chirac hotly said, “I think it’s time for us to leave.”
“That soon?” she innocently said, “but you’ve only just got here.”
“No, we have been here for three hours,” Chirac replied, “you are the one that only just got here.”
“Oh god, you’re so tedious Chirac,” she said, “Lighten up!”
“Maya?” he gave me a look
I put down the wineglass she had offered and faced her.
“I think he’s right,” I said, “we better be leaving.”
“But I was getting to the interesting part now,” she whined
“You are a mad woman, you know that?” Chirac angrily said
“Calm that nerve Mister, this one might be just for you,” she spoke
“What is it?” I asked
“Nenet.”
I looked at her in revelation.
“She knows that I am bringing this herb for you,” she added, “but I think it’s worth a fight.”
I dropped on the chair with the shock of her words. If Nenet knew, that it would definitely mean another war.
“What are you talking about?” Chirac asked
“Nenet is planning to destroy your coven since a long time, and not just yours,” she said, “She wants to finish everything that could be a possible threat to the Janiat coven. She killed one of my legions too a week back, the one Maya knew.”
This new information had taken me by surprise. Everything startled me to such an extent that my body was itching to run away.
“She killed Sia and I know that she knew she was one of the most tamed legion,” Dina said, “Nenet wants to pick a fight.”
“You know, we are not interested so you might want to keep this to your Valdors and yourself.” Chirac said, pacing towards the door
“If you want to survive, then you need to develop an interest,” Dina backfired, “because ignorance is not a solution here, you know you lost last time.”
“Will you just mind your own business?” Chirac shouted
“Guys…” I finally found my voice, “Dee is right, if we have to protect ourselves we might want to team up.”
“No way in hell,” Chirac spitted
“Then I am glad to inform you that this is Earth,” Dina grinned
