CHAPTER TEN | DESPERATE
***

I was shaken awake by a pair of strong hands. My eyes adjusted to the moonlight glaring at me through the opened window.

"Are you feeling better?" I heard Mathew murmur from somewhere in the room.

I forced myself into a sitting position and rubbed my eyes. A headache was on its way - I could feel the pounding already starting.

   "Tessa?" he asked again.

I focused my eyes on him. He was merely a silhouette in the darkness. I bit my lip to keep me from screaming at him.

   "I-it's Ron," he mumbled. "I-it'll take a s-second."

   Thank god, I thought.

He got up and crossed to the window. His fingers drummed on the sill as he spoke into the phone.

"What do you want?" he sighed.

He listened to the other side for a moment and frowned.

"What do you mean, she's not there?" His eyes widened. "Are you being serious?" He scowled. "Not funny, Ron."

I couldn't help but stare. His jaw clenched and unclenched, his fingers never leaving the window.

And his lips. They looked so pink and soft. I wonder how they would feel on mine...
