I once heard that when you meet your soulmate you'll know because you will feel absolutely calm: your heart won't beat like the sporadic sounds of a war drum, your hands shouldn't shake as if you were having a seizure and your knees won't break from beneath you.

And that is exactly what I am doing right now. My head slightly tilting to one side, my mouth was ajar as I stare up at the boy that I've had a crush on since the seventh grade.

Ever since that first day of middle school I have been madly in love, but it could never happen. The boy with the perfect hair and the beautiful eyes would never be able to love me back. He's already happy with his girlfriend.

"Can I help you?" His deep voice asked, my eyes quickly dart to a new object in the room.

I gulp quietly before slowly returning my gaze, "Um, Coach Shumate wants to see your, um, jersey."

"What for?" He asked yet another question.

Talking to him was always the hardest thing for me to do. I was so "in love" with him that I knew practically everything to know. I was secretly the crazy stalker wannabe girlfriend to Gabe. I knew where he was when he was in school, every class, every sports meeting, and every time he ditched class to be with his girlfriend in the hallways that were being reconstructed.

"Hey, Edith," he grabbed my attention knowing that I zoned out, "What'd he want?"

I liked when he said my name. Actually, scratch that. I loved it.

"Oh, all of the cheerleaders are supposed to wear them tomorrow for the annual pep rally we're having." I smile, tucking a strand of my dark hair behind my ear and bowing my head slightly to the side.

Gabe scratched at the nape of his neck before thoroughly digging through his black jansport backpack, "I don't have mine with me today, but I'll give it to you tomorrow morning. That okay?"

I nod, "That's fine," and with that I turn around and leave my crush in the cafeteria as he continues to talk to his friends.

Now for most people that would have been the most awkward or quite possibly, the hardest thing to do, and it was, but fast forward a few months later into my life and you'll see just how messed up a 'bad situation' can be.
