A young boy was on his knees in the middle of a large crowd of people. "Dark? Is he a demon?" One boy asked. "He must be, why else would he have that trait?" Another continued. A girl walked up to him, "I can't believe I befriended a monster."

Wake up

Wake up!

Seji wake up!!

Seji opened his eyes to see the same long blonde twin-tailed girl that usually woke him up in the morning, his only friend Fay. "W...What is it?" He managed to grumble out. "It's time to wake up! Or else we're both going to miss the annual awakening this year!" She informed him with a loud voice. "Alright, I'll get up! Just let me get changed on my own!" He grumpily got up from his bed and stood up. Fay sighed and left the room, closing the door on the way out.

Seji was a sixteen year old boy with short shaggy raven hair and dark brown eyes. He had an average build and was just tall enough to see over most people his age's heads. After a few brief moments of deciding what to wear her chose a tight black cloth shirt with some light armour above it. His lower body was covered with some tight trousers and light armour for his thighs, shin and the front of between his legs.

Her walked out the door to a very annoyed Fay, "jeez you sure do take your time!" She complained, tapping her foot against the floor. "It was five minutes, the awakening doesn't start for another thirty." He walked to the door; Fay following afterwards. The two started walking together though the streets of Elgaia. Adults and children walked and played happily without any sense of danger. "So, what element do you want to get?" Fay asked. "Probably water, being able to blend into the ocean and swim well sound cool." Seji replied. Fay nodded her head. "I want fire, being able to cook easily would be useful!"

Soon enough the two of them made it a large rectangular building with a pointed roof. Voices could be heard from inside. The two entered the building and were met with lots of children around the same age as them. Once the two of them had gotten to a free space a man with a long white beard and long white hair floated down on a floating carpet. "Now now children, settle down please. As I'm sure you know this is the annual awakening. But for those of you who do not know I shall explain it for you. The annual awakening is something that has happened every year for children who are now sixteen. Where four masters of their respective element join forces and help newcomers discover their element, I personally am the water master. Your names will be chosen a random but you will all be chosen; first is Fay Lynn." She stepped to the centre if the building where the man was and held her hand out. Three others came into the building from the front door. "Hey old man, can't you keep your timing straight?" Shouted a long black haired man. "Sorry, it got set back due to an invasion of flame minions; who's fault was that?" He laughed. The four of them gathered round Fay and focused their magic on her. A large flame erupted from around the five, causing the same long black haired man to laugh and do a victory pose. "What now old man? Welcome to the fire team!" He held his hand out for a handshake which Fay accepted.

After everyone else's name was called Seji was still waiting. "And last but not least, Seji Oswalda." He walked towards them. After standing in the middle all four of them focused their magi on him a large chill filled the room; dark mist seemed to appear before a large explosion of shadows sent all if the masters flying into the walls of the building. When they landed they all shouted with fear in their voice, "d-dark?!" The crowd gasped, they'd all hears storied of The Shadow King who plunged this world into a dark age for decades. He was defeated by a mysterious person only referred in the book as Aglow. Even though they were able so stop the shadow king the monsters he's created were not able to be destroyed so easily.

Seji fell to his knees, those four letters replaying in his mind like a broken record. Whispers broke out among the crowd. His only friend Fay walked up to him, "wow, you were a demon the whole time? To think I would befriend a monster ." She sneered, her personality had completely changed. The once happy-go-lucky and cheery girl was now painted with a face of disgrace. Insults flooded the room, any semblance of fear now replace with anger among his peers. The four masters of the elements looked at each other, they felt bad but couldn't bring themselves to intervene. The verbal abuse swirled around in Seji's head, bad thoughts growing and growing, causing him to let out a wave of dark energy that created a pathway to the door which he ran through as fast as his legs could take him.
