It was beautiful Friday night in Mechelen, Belgium. The stars twinkled and the moon shone brightly in the clear night sky. A soft breeze was in the air that made the air perfect for a midnight drive around the town. Outside of the city of Mechelen, in the backyard of a quite small but cozy cottage, a couple was slow dancing to Words by Gregory Alan Isakov. The woman by the name of Aphrodite, rested her head on her girlfriend's chest and closed her eyes.
"I love you baby," the girl whispered, "I love you so much."
Aphrodite snuggled herself deeper into the girls chest and smiled. They continued dancing through the night until it was 2am and everything was still and quiet except for the occasional hooting by an owl. The girls smiled at each other and walked inside hand-in-hand.
"Shall we go upstairs?" the girl asked with a hint of lust in her voice.
Aphrodite smirked and started to walk upstairs with the girl. Once she got in and closed the door, she felt herself get pushed to the wall. The girl started to kiss and bite Aphrodite on her neck which left little love bites on her skin. Aphrodite, with lust now flowing inside of her, picked up the girl which made her yelp, and laid her on the bed.
"I love you." she whispered to Aphrodite.
Aphrodite smiled at the girl before softly kissing her neck. They spent the rest of the beautiful night making love.
6:30am
Aphrodite woke up early and looked at the girl that slept softly next to her. A mix of emotions flowed through her as she smiled at her and kissed her temple softly. She got herself out of bed, put on her clothes, and looked at the beautiful girl one more time.
"You were my favorite person to be with. I hope you find someone worthy of your love." she whispered.
Aphrodite left the small cottage and started to walk away from the cottage before disappearing.
8:43am
The girl opened her eyes to the sight of sunlight spilling into her room. She turned herself, hoping that maybe, just maybe, she would expect to find Aphrodite laying there. As expected, she was gone. Her heart sank a little as she plopped her head on her pillow and let tears spill. She really didn't know why she was crying. She knew that she couldn't fall in love with the goddess of love and the goddess of love couldn't fall in love with her.
Little did she know that Aphrodite was looking down at her on her beautiful marble throne as Zeus and the rest of the gods discussed affairs. Tears started to spill out of her beautiful blue eyes as she, once again, came to the realization that she could never love someone. She composed herself and tried to drown out her own thoughts by paying attention to the meeting.
