You walked down the street, alone as always. No one wanted anything to do with you, despite your best efforts to fit in. You weren’t saddened by it though. If people were to behave like they did, you’d rather not have friends. You’d rather not have anything to do with the low-life’s that plagued the street and ran the world.

Turning a corner, your eyes widened. Walking quickly, you hoped the local bullies would not notice you. As was the way your luck normally was, they did notice you. The leader of the gang stepped in front of you, the lackey’s standing behind her.

“What do we have here?” she grinned nastily. “Little Y/N.”

“Leave me alone, Erica...” you muttered.
“Where’s the little loser off to today? To hang out with your boyfriend?”

The other two laughed. “Oh, that’s right,” Erica smirked. “You don’t have a boyfriend. You don’t even have any friends.”

You glared at Erica, tempted to punch the smirk right off her face. Resisting the temptation though, you tried to walk past the bully, getting grabbed by one of them and being shoved to the ground. Around you, the world began to turn darker, dark, nightmare-ish clouds ushering in.

The bullies began to change too. Erica and her gang turning into shadow monsters, eyes blazing red. You rose to your feet, running in the opposite direction. The monsters pursued you, catching quickly. Continuing to run, your H/C hair blowed into your face. Pushing it behind your ear, you continued to run, spotting a shining light far off in the distance.

All around you, the world was spread into eternal darkness, flashes of colours popping up every few metres you ran. You could hear the monsters right behind you but continued to run. You couldn’t afford them to catch you. Not when you were so close to the brightness that beckoned you forth.

Running at it headlong, you closed your eyes. Wherever it led you, you wanted it to be a surprise. Feeling the warmth grab you, you didn’t stop, being fully consumed by the brightness.

When you opened your eyes, you were falling. Hitting the ground hard, you rolled, lying flat on your back. Trying to regain your breath, you looked around. You had no idea where you were or what had happened back there. All you knew was something was definitely up.

Once you had got your breath back, you stood up, a large set of gates, currently closed, in your way. With a loud, creaking sound they opened, leading to a beautiful plaza-like area. In the centre was a beautiful, ornate fountain with stone dolphins, seemingly frolicking through the water.

You took a step forward, entering into the courtyard. It was so quiet. So quiet and peaceful. And lacking life. You saw doors around the outside, crumpling fragments leading to nowhere. Surrounding the doors, was a forest, huge and as beautiful as everything else around you.

From nowhere, music began to play. You realised it was a flute, playing an enchanting melody. Looking for where the sound was coming from, you saw a tall figure in the distance, floating in the air. They wore an outfit of violets, reds and magenta. You had no clue what they were though. They certainly weren’t human though.

Once the creature had had enough of playing the melody, they floated down to a more reasonable level, flying towards you. To say you were intrigued was an understatement.

The creature flew past you, then turned and stopped, an eyebrow raised. You stood there, unsure of yourself but not scared either.
“Well, well, well,” the creature smirked. “What have we got here~?”

You couldn’t help yourself. You blushed, turning away. Mentally cursing, you bit your lip, unsure of how to reply.
“I suppose I’ll start then. Name’s NiGHTS. What’s yours?”

“I’m Y/N,” you mumbled. “Y/N Y/L/N.”

“What’s that? I didn’t quite hear you~.”

You looked up, a snarl rising. “I’m Y/N, dummy.”

He laughed. “It’s lovely to meet you, Y/N.”

You nodded.

“So what brings someone as beautiful as you to our humble world~?”

“What makes you so damn flirty all of a sudden?!” Another voice snapped.

You looked up to see another creature, similar to the one in front of you. This one had an outfit of blacks and deep reds though, an unfriendly look about him. The most noticeable feature about this one, however, was the lack of pants. Try as you might to avoid looking at that area, you couldn’t stop.

“Reala, do you know how to wear pants?!” NiGHTS glared. “You’re showing everything!”

“Pants are uncomfortable. And don’t give you the freedom of open leg movement.”

NiGHTS snorted. “More like rape.”

“When Master Wizeman learns of this, he will be very displeased.”

“Oh, let the walking towel be displeased. And tell him to ditch the cape. It’s the most stupid thing anyone could wear.”

You stood there, not sure of what to do. You continued to watch as the two creatures continued to argue, the disagreement becoming more heated. Insults were flung and then fists. You took a step to the side as NiGHTS was kicked into the fountain. He stood, the flamboyant happiness you had seen earlier all but gone.

He lunged at Reala, Reala moving out of the way and laughing nastily as NiGHTS faceplanted into the ground.

“You have always been the weaker twin, NiGHTS.”

“Coward…” NiGHTS growled.

“Moi? A coward? You’re the puppet who can’t do anything without borrowing power from Visitors.”

NiGHTS stood up, wiping blood from his cheek. “I’m not a goddamn puppet, bastard. You are! A puppet for Wizeman!”

Reala kicked NiGHTS in the face, knocking him down once again. You couldn’t stand there anymore. You ran towards Reala, shoving him away from NiGHTS.

“Leave him alone!” You shouted.
He turned to you, a snarl on his face.
“You are an idiot, Visitor.”

“I’m not an idiot, you are!”

Unused to this, Reala growled. “Do not insult me. Otherwise you may not last to the end of the night.”

“You’re a weak coward who hides behind harsh words and your fists!”

He swung, aiming to take your head off. NiGHTS ran in front of you, taking the full impact of the blow. Stumbling backwards he collapsed to the ground, eyes closing over.

“NiGHTS!”
