"Charlie get out of the house right now! Don't look back just run!" My mother shouted out of nowhere shortly before the gunshot went off.

"Boom!" I stared at my bedroom door in shock.

"Did my mom just take a bullet in her head? Is my mom dead? What's going on? Mom?" All these thoughts soon occupied my brain. It felt like I stayed there for an eternity, staring, at my brown wooden door. Then I noticed that the door knob slowly started turning. I shook myself to reality and ran towards it and locked it. I realized that wasn't going to hold them off for long. I then, with all my strength pushed my drawer cabinet towards the door. "Slam!"

I didn't know what to do. I was filled with all these emotions: grief, fear, confusion, and most of all anger.

I ran towards my window, opened it, and as I was about to jump, I noticed all these black vans outside in the streets. They seemed to be executing parents and taking their children.

I saw Elena, my best friend since 2nd grade and next door neighbor, being hauled outside by this huge man in a black armored uniform. I was about to shout at the man to let her go but then I saw this man. He didn't look like the others. He wore a black military beret, but it had a something red that my eyes couldn't make anything of.

"Boom" that hit nearly cracked the door. I almost forgot that the men were still trying to get me. I couldn't go outside. And I couldn't just let them capture me. I had to think of something and fast.

The pounding on the door got louder and I knew the door wasn't going to hold any longer. So I went with my gut. I crawled under my bed.

They smashed the door to pieces and pushed the drawer cabinet out of the way.

Where the hell did she go!" Shouted one of them.

How the hell should I know?" Replied the other.

Well we have to find her. Stop arguing and just look for her. Alliet will kill us if we don't get every single kid in this damn neighborhood." Said another, but this time was different. She was a female.

I saw their thick, armored, black combat boots walking all around my room. Throwing stuff in the floor. They grabbed something and started giggling.

"Ha remember her?" Said one of them.

"Ha ha ha, yeah I do." Replied the other. "She was a screamer."

"Did you see the face on her when Angeline shot her dad square in the face?"

"How could I forget? That was the highlight of my day, ha ha." He replied.

I heard Angeline let out a little giggle. Then she said, " Come on guys where could have she hidden?"

They dropped the framed picture and I knew that picture. It was always on my nightstand. It was a picture of me and Kate. We took that picture when we won our softball tournament. They already took Kate.

Two of my best friends have already been taken. I was about to cry. But I wasn't going to let them take me too. I covered my mouth with my hand and laid there, whimpering as quietly as I could.

Angeline then came up with a conclusion that I could of jumped out of the window and got caught while trying to escape. They argued a bit about how Alliet would react if they didn't bring me to him. Then after they all just agreed and shot all through me room to be secure.

A bullet shot me in my left leg. I whimpered but I don't think they heard me over all their guns firing. I applied pressure to my wound and hoped that they left before they saw my pool of blood that grew rapidly.

They left after shooting a couple more rounds. Once I was sure that they were gone, I crawled out on bed and stumbled on all the stuff scattered around the ground. I grabbed my makeup bag off the ground and pulled out my tweezers. It wasn't easy to navigate through this distorted room with a throbbing pain in my leg.

I managed to get myself in the kitchen. I looked for bandages, morphine, and a rag.

I places the rag between my teeth and felt the most painful sensation as I tried to get the bullet out with my tweezers. I literally thought I was going to die there. As I pulled the bullet out I screamed of relief.

I then poured morphine on the wound. I whimpered loudly as my skin sizzled as the morphine got in contact with it.Then wrapped it with bandage. I heard some one scuffling down the hallway towards me. I picked myself up and kept balance on the counter top.

I grabbed a knife from the knife drawer and limped towards the hallway. There was no way I could hide again. I waited. I was about to to attack until I saw who it was.

Dragging her body in the hallway was my mother. They must have not shot her in the head.

"Mom! I was so scared! What's happening? Why are these people trying to kill us?" I cried to her as I grasped her.

"You're special... Charlie." She struggled to get out.

I couldn't find the wound, but there was blood all around her. "Mom? Why are you bleeding from?" I asked eagerly

"Don't worry... Charlie, don't... worry." She replied with a relaxed tone. "You have to get yourself out of here."

Then that's when I saw her wound. On her mid lower back. The bullet must have gone through and broke her spinal cord in two. That's why she was crawling. And by the looks of it she has lost too much blood.

She looked dizzy and lowered her head but I lifted it again and pleaded, "Mom, we have to cover up your wound! You'll make it! Come on, don't leave me!"

But it was too late. Her eyes closed shut and never opened again. My mother died. Her corpse in my arms. Motionless.

But there wasn't time to grief. I just crawled away from her lifeless body. I walked back to my room and grabbed my backpack. I grabbed some clothes from my demolished drawers and some food and water from the kitchen. I walked out the back door...
