"and that is why you must read throughout the summer, so you don't lose valuable knowledge." the teacher spoke. he was so boring, i couldn't stand him, but he was my last class of the day. today was the last day of school, and i was ready. who isn't? but for me that meant more time at home with him.i don't have many friends, so i'll mostly be spending time at home.
"ring ring"
everyone in that room automatically gets up and walks straight out of the classroom, despite the teachers protests.
you walk slowly past the girls bathroom and hear bickering. probably greta bullying someone again.
"i hear they slice the tip of your d- oh hey kaylee." richie tozier says as i walk past him.
"how do you know my name?" i ask. i've never told him, i've never even talked to him.
"i know all the names of the hot girls in my gym class." he says and I stare with a blank expression.
"ugh, such pervs." i roll my eyes.
"n-n-not all of us a-a-are pervs k-k-kaylee ." bill speaks up. i always thought his stutter was cute. i felt horrible when i found out his cute little brother, who i used to babysit, went missing.
"i know bill, some boys can actually keep their hormones under control." i laugh.
"i don't believe we've met. im eddie" a small boy says.
"nice to meet you eddie, i'm kaylee." i smile.
"hey kaylee!" my neighbor stan says approaching the group.
"hi stanely!" i smile and we all walk out. right past bowers and his minions.
"think they'll sign my yearbook?" richie says adjusting his glasses.
"dear richie sorry for taking a big fat steamy dump in your backpack, have a great summer."  someone says and i laugh.
i walk out and dump out the contents of my backpack into a trash can along with the guys.
"best feeling ever." stan says.
"try tickling your pickle for the first time." richie says.
"ew, that's gross." i say shoving him.
"is it still gross if i said i was thinking of you the whole time." he says wiggling his eyebrows and i make a disgusted face.
"is that betty ripsoms mom?"
"yeah, it's like they think she's been hiding in home ec for the last 3 weeks." eddie says.
"think they'll find her?" i ask.
"yeah sure, in a ditch all decomposed and covered in maggots, smelling like eddies moms underwear." richies says.
"Ew, stop that's gross." eddie remarks back.
"so what are y'alls plans for the summer?" i ask, as i have none.
"im going to start my training." richie announces.
"what training?" eddie asks.
"street fighting." richie says matter-of-factly.
"thats how you're going to spend your summer? in a arcade?" eddies scoffs.
"beats spending it inside your mom." richie remarks and puts his hand up for a high five, which he never receives.
"guys we can't, we have the b-b-barrens." bill says.
"can i come?" i ask and everyone looks at me.
"s-s-sure." bill smiles and eddie stays quiet, like really quiet.
"great way to spend the summer, splashing around in shitty water-" richie starts but is pulled back by his backpack and crashes into stan them both stumbling on the ground. i walk towards them to help them, but am pulled back by none other than henry bowers.
"hey there, what's a girl like you doing hanging out with these boys? why don't you come hang out with some real men." he asks.
"if you and your gang are real men, then i'd rather hang out with these boys!" i say and walk away.
henry was about to say something but he makes eye contact with his dad.
"you're lucky your brother is my friend." he starts.
"step-brother." i correct him and his jaw clenched.
"that's not the point, if I weren't for him then you would be dead." he says and flips off the guys and walks away into his car.
"what a ass." richie says.
"i literally couldn't agree more tozier" i say and walk off.
