Bruce Wayne stood in the crowd as the Mayor of Gotham wrapped up his speech. All were in attendance to witness the new exhibit in the Gotham City Science Museum. The Mayor raised his hand towards Bruce and said Thank you Bruce Wayne for all of your contributions. Gotham is lucky to have an upstanding businessman and friend like you.
Bruce Wayne nodded his head, smiled, and raised his glass. Thank you Mr. Mayor, but none of this would have been possible without the undying passion and devotion of Dr. Cameron van Cleer.
Across the room, the toast was returned by the man behind the music, Cameron van Cleer. He hoisted his glass in the air and took a sip. He managed to show his feebleness as he spilled some champagne on his new suit. He joined the crowd in their laughter.
The Mayor reached over and cut the red ribbon. All the citizens of Gotham began entering the exhibit. Cameron van Cleer walked over and shook hands with Bruce.Thank you for that Bruce, but really I hate being the center of attention.
Sorry, Bruce said. I had no idea you were the shy type, Bruce smiled.
Well, I just get a little nervous in front of large crowds. It's always been like that for me, even when I was a little boy. Growing up, I didn't spend time making friends. I was always on the hunt, collecting and gathering, and really studying the nature of insects and small animals.
We should all be so lucky to have a passion such as yours Doctor. This exhibit is going to be great for Gotham. Say, how about after this we go back to my place and have dinner? I can have Alfred whip something up.
Gee, that sounds great Bruce, you're a good friend, Dr. Cameron van Cleer replied. The two gentlemen made their way into the exhibit.
