The War That We Fight

Our hearts do beat.
We do breath.
We do eat.
And we do sleep.
But we are not living...
We are surviving,
Trying our best to not become,
A casualty of this war.
Some of us have been fighting for years
Some, for decades
Some, for our whole life
Some have just joined the fight.

I no longer can remember my life,
Before the war.
The war is my past.
The war is my present.
The war is my future.
I am not living,
For I have died years ago...
I am just surviving.

This is a war that you will...
Either win...
Or die trying.
Even the strongest shall fall,
Because we all have our limits.
The question is this...
Will you reach yours,
Before the war is over?
Or will you reach it,
In the heat of battle?

But remember,
Do not cry for the fallen.
Do not shed a single tear.
For they have died long ago.
Instead rejoice,
For their fight is over.
Their pain has ended.
The numbness has stopped.
They are set free.
