Akemae's POV
It was like I was in a whole new world. Well...I guess I sort a was. Everything was bleak and colorless like an alien world.
"What is your desired user name?" said a booming mechanic voice. "Be careful for this is the name everyone else will see."
I was surprised by how blunt this voice was, but I managed to say, "Akemae."
"What is your first desired skill?" Asked the voice in its blunt voice.
I didn't take very long to answer this time around, "Sword wielder."
"Very well. And what is your second desired skill? This skill will help you if you need to earn money or to advance weaponry, foods, etc.."
"My second skill will be healing." I said automatically. That one was a given.
"Welcome Akemae of the swords and medical field," The voice paused dramatically for effect, "To Bōken Online!"
Suddenly the bleak and colorless world changed and shifted into something brighter, something nicer. It was a bustling village full of people, each differing from the next. The village looked like one from my history textbook but more real.
"So this is Bōken Online?" I asked to no one particular.
Though I asked no one specifically, a random and wild looking man looking around my age yelled, "Hell yeah it is! Aint it great?!"
I gave him a look of total and utter disgust. "I did not ask you." I said rudely. I suppose I could have been nicer, but he looked so poor and I couldn't help it.
"Geez don't have to be so damn rude." he spat. The wild poor man walked away quickly.
I took no offence to it. Instead I just rolled my eyes and continued looking around. I walked up to a mirror and was surprised at what I saw. I saw my raven black hair, my icy blue eyes, my almost translucent skin, and my tall, slim frame. The only difference in my reflection were my clothes, which looked medieval. It was just a tan shirt and skirt that went down to my heels.
"How hideous." I scoffed. "Oh well, I suppose I can go shopping later. For now I suppose I had better find a professional sword maker. At least they gave me 5,000 coins as a starter kit."
I walked off in the most promising direction where there was a crowd of people with the name 'Sword wielder' suspended above their heads.
I forced my way into the crowd pushing people away as I went trying to avoid physical contact as best as possible.
I was suddenly stopped by a smooth wooden surface. It was a desk. "Why hello." said a kind voice. I looked up to see a friendly looking woman hammering away at a molten iron sword. She had spikey pink hair and dark crimson eyes and for some reason reminded me of Valentines Day.
"Hello." I said politely.
"Hello Akemae, I'm Cupid." Oh. That explained it.
"How'd you know my name?" I asked Cupid suspiciously.
"Well hun, look above your head. It is right there darlin'." Her southern draw oddly didn't annoy me. Instead I liked her accent. I looked above my head automatically and there it was, right where Cupid had said it was. My name was labeled in neat dark letters.
"Oh, thanks. I'm kind of new to this whole thing." I said, embarrassed.
"Don't worry. We all are. The game only came out today I think. But people have been leveling up like crazy. Look over there! That fellas leveling up right now!" She pointed with one thin finger towards the man I had just insulted. He did look rather strange. Strange in the fact he was glowing. The glowing only brightened and rings formed around him. Then suddenly his glowing ceased and a Level One sign beside his name became a Level Two.
"Oh, that's cool." I murmured.
"So hun, how come you came here? In need of a sword?"
"Yes ma'am." I said eagerly.
"Well I like you, so I'll make you one on the house. What type of sword would you like, Akemae?"
"Japanese Style please. Made of metal and a black handle, please Cupid." I said automatically, eagerness bubbling dangerously up inside of me.
"Can do. It'll only take me a minute." She had just finished the iron sword and handed it to its new owner.
She pulled out a misshapen piece of rough, shinny metal and pulled out her hammer. She pounded it once, twice, three times when suddenly a little keypad came before her. She dialed in buttons I couldn't read and suddenly the metal became smooth and sword shaped with a black handle. I gasped in awe. "Thank you so much, Cupid." I picked it up eagerly, "I love it!"
"Why don't you go try it out then?" She smiled warmly at me.
"Oh I will, I definitely will. I just have to go buy a new wardrobe first." I pointed down at the ugly tan skirt, "This isn't going to help me when I'm fighting."
"There is a clothing shop about a block away that sells nice clothing." Said Cupid politely.
"Thank you Cupid. Can I add you to my friends list? I might need to find you later." I asked her.
"O' 'course darlin'." Another keypad like the one Cupid had just used to make my sword popped out in mid air this time in front of me.
I tentatively poked one of the buttons that said 'Add to friend list' The list disappeared as soon as I pushed the button. The same list appeared in front of Cupid and she easily pushed the green button which I assumed meant accept.
"Thanks again, Cupid. I'll see you around." I said briskly.
"No problem Akemae. I'll be a seein' ya."
With that I turned and walked way.
