Lost and Found

Chapter 1- dresses and dates

I sighed contently as I breathed in the strong smell of Starbucks coffee. Walking over to the counter, I quickly ordered my drink and then went to sit down at a table. My watch read 3:56. "they should be here soon," I mumbled quietly to myself. I was going shopping with my friends Lily, Victoria, Rose, Grace and Bella. I saw Bellas car pull up outside Starbucks and out climbed Victoria, Bella and Lily. They walked in, ordered their drinks and sat down next to me.  

"hey guys!" I exclaimed.  

A chorus of 'heys' and 'hi's' came from them.  

" do you know when Grace and Rose are coming?" I asked.  

"I saw them down the corner before we came here so they should be here soon." Lily replied.  

At that moment, they walked in. I waved them over and they came and sat down with us.  

Our drinks arrived and we busied ourselves, gossiping and making small talk. We soon finished our drinks and headed over into the main part of the mall.

"ok girls, we all have to find dresses for the disco next week, so how bout we split up and then if one of us finds a good store, we call the others?" Grace asked.  

We all nodded in unison and split up. Victoria, Bella and I went in one direction while the others went jb the opposite.  

Walking down the mall, we stopped at tons of stores, often joking around and picking out horrible outfits for one another. We saw a few other girls from school, also shopping for the disco. They all stopped to say hi but one girl wanted more than just a friendly greeting...  

"hello girls" she spat out.  

" what do you want Caroline?" Bella hissed.  

"oh nothing. So you're here shopping for the disco too? Well just letting you know, you're supposed to bring a date, but with a face like yours, you'll have a hard time finding one!" Caroline laughed.  

"no I think we are fine, but I'm sure you don't have a date yet, dOnt worry, my uncle works at the zoo, I'm sure one of the animals would love to go with you!" Victoria spat back.  

" whatever, I guess since you already have "dates" you're goin to introduce me then? I'll be looking forward to meeting them!" she cackled. 

"let's go girls" and with that, her and her posse sauntered away.

"I really hate her!" I finally said, my anger boiling at her remarks.  

"forget about her and let's go find dresses and dates!" Bella said, her mood instantly changing from pissed to energetic.  

I always wondered how he could do that, like be sad one minute and then extremely happy the next.

We continued our search until I found the perfect shop. It was quite small and clustered but every piece of clothing seemed so delicate and pretty.  

"girls, I've foun the perfect shop" I said to the others. we quickly texted the others and then started looking for the perfect dress.  

Soon, our arms were filled with dresses and we all piled inti the changing rooms.  

The first dress I tried on was navy blue, with a thick black belt and with crystals lining the neck.  

I stepped into it and zipped it up. It fitted, but was still loose. Taking it off, I pulled in the next one, a red one with folds and pleats down it. It looked good, but not as good as I'd hoped.  

"Grace would definitely suit this one" I thought to my self.  

"hey Gracie, you should try this dress." I said as I handed it to her through the curtain.  

" ok thanks"  

I went back into my own changing room again and pulled on the last dress. It was cream with lace and had a black sash. It rested about mid thigh and fitted perfectly. Zipping it up, I peeked at my reflection in the mirror.  

"wow" I breathed. "this is the one"  

I changed back into mh clothes and went to pay for it. While waiting for the others, I went across to the jewellary shop. i bought some things to match my dress. As i was paying, my phone started to ring. 

"hey girl, where are you?" Rose asked.

"I'm just across the store, in the jewellery shop. I'll be back in a minute" 

i thanked the cashier and walked out of the store, scrolling throught the new messages on my phone. i bumped into something and tripped over my self. Bracing my head for the fall, i was surprised when i was cushioned by something...

A boy. 

A cute boy. 

A boy that i knew...

Josh. My heart raced as i clambered off him and stood up, brushing my self off. His friends were quietly laughing at us in the background and i think i heard one of them say something about him "getting some". 

"Sorry bout that" I mumbled. 

"thats ok," he laughed.

I started to walk away when he grabbed my arm and truned me around to face him again. 

"Hey, um Cassie, could you ask your friend Lily who she likes? And then maybe call me?"

Tears started to well up in my eyes as I quickly nodded and walked away. I could still hear his friends talking and laughing when i walked back to my friends. they immediatly saw the tears and pulled me into a big group hug. 

"Aw baby, what happened? Was it Josh? I swear, if he did anything to hurt you, I'm going to pound in his face and mush it into the gound till-" 

"Rose calm down! and maybe"

"Wait a second, do you like josh?" Grace asked. 

i quietly nodded and looked down. 

"Yes! i knew it! I mean it was kinda obvious but i wanted to know what you said cause Rose told me you liked him but I didnt know if that was true or not..." she trailed off. 

i glared at Rose and sta down on a nearbby bench. Tears streamed down my face as the relization hit me that Josh would never think of me in that way...

"aw babe, calm down" Bella cooed as she rubbed my back. "Do you want to tell us what happened?"

i nodded, drying  off my tears,  and then started to tell them what happened.....
