Chapter Title: "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)" - My Chemical Romance

--

I walked into the lobby of my apartment building, dreading walking into my apartment. You see, I'm a 25 year old man living with his parents, and they STILL like a child who can't do anything right. I need a place of my own,  or at least a place with a roommate.

"Yo, Alex," I heard someone call my name. I turned around to see Zack, my best friend, walking towards me with a piece of paper in his hand. I smiled and waved to Zack, "Hey, fucker," I said. "What's up, man?"

He laughed and handed me the piece of paper. "What's this?" I asked, confused.

"You're still looking for a place, right?" he asked, making sure I was still looking. I nodded, still confused as to what he was about to say.

"Well, I found this at Fry's when I walked in," he said. "Two dudes named Jack and Rian are looking for a third roommate. I thought you might be interested."

I grinned when I looked at the flyer, "Thanks, Z," I said. "You're awesome."

"No problem, buddy," he said. "Hurry up and call! They might give it someone before you get the chance!" I chuckled and grabbed my phone, dialing the number.

"Hello?" the person on the other line answered.

"Uh, hi, I saw your flyer about the extra room?" I replied.

"Oh! Hi, there! I'm Rian," he said. "So you're interested in the extra room?"

I chuckled lightly, "Yeah. My name's Alex. Would you mind meeting up to talk about this, Rian?"

"Of course! Meet me at Starbucks?"

"Sounds great! See you soon!"

"Sweet! I'm sitting in a booth near the window at the front," Rian said. "Just sit down in front of me and I'll know why a random stranger is sitting in front of me. See ya!"

After that, he hung up. I quickly ran out my apartment building, trying to get to Starbucks as fast as I could. Zack left my apartment building right as I dialed the number, he had to get back to work.

When I finally arrived at Starbucks, I saw a guy in the window playing with his phone and drinking coffee. That must be Rian, I thought. I walked in and stood by his booth.

"Rian, right?" I asked. He looked up and nodded, "Alex?"

"That's me." I smiled

He gestured for me to take a seat across from him. "So, Alex, tell me a little about yourself." Rian said when I sat down. I nodded.

"Well, I'm 25 years old. I'm not a creepy, child-molesting murderer and pedophile. I don't have a steady job as of now, but I have an interview with ZIA Records in 3 days," I started off, being completely honest. "My interests include writing, playing and listening to music, and just having fun. And as a roommate, you pretty much don't have to worry about me having one night stands or having anyone over unexpectedly, unless it's NY best friend, Zack. I'm clean, and I try not to get in the way or bother anyone too much. I'm not too loud, either. If my music gets too loud, just let me know. I'll happily turn it down."

Rian looked impressed with me, like an employer. He analyzed me, then set his gaze on another person. His eyes widened in excitement. "Jack! Come here!" he shouted. I'm guessing that's Rian's other roommate.

Jack turned around and waved to Rian, whilst walking up. "Hey Ri, what's up?" he asked, Rian nodded his head at me whilst looking at Jack. Jack looked over at me and dropped his coffee, not realizing he had dropped it until it hit the ground. "Jack," Rian called, waving his hands in front of Jack's face.

"Jaaaaack?"

"Huh? What?"

"This is Alex, he was interested in our extra room," Rian explained. "I just interviewed him, and he seems like a decent person. Whataya think?"

"Well, he is one hot piece of ass," Jack responded, I blushed. "And if he's decent according to you, I say we give it to him." I grinned.

"Congratulations, Alex," Jack said. "You're now Rian and I's 3rd musketeer. Would you like us to help you move out?"

"That would be nice," I said. "My parents would need proof that I actually found a place. They treat me like I don't know what I'm doing with my life, just because I want to be in a band and because I'm gay....wait, that's not a problem for you two, is it?"

Rian nudged Jack, then laughed. "I'm bisexual," Jack said. "Rian's an awesome guy, he accepts everyone for who they are."

I sighed in relief, "Oh, thank God."

They laughed again. "So Alex," Rian said. "When do you wanna move in?"

"As soon as possible. I can't wait to get out of my parents apartment."

"Well, show us the way to your apartment and we'll help you pack!" Jack responded, getting up out of the booth, then grabbing my arm and dragging me out of Starbucks. Rian walked behind us, laughing. I think I'm going to like living with these guys. They seem nice and fun.
