3rd person P.O.V

Gaster growled audibly, the scientists near his table glancing over at him warily. Gaster hated when Alo was right about when something wouldn't work. Gaster had explained to his mentor what he was trying to do that day, and Alo had promptly said that he believed it wouldn't work. Gaster being the moody teen he is told Alo he would make it work, but it had gone and EXPLODED so Gaster couldn't do much else but growl and glare at the random bits of machinery that hadn't flown off his desk. Gaster heard a familiar laugh behind him and then they spoke in a familiar deep tone,

"I told you Dings it wasn't going to work!" The voice started laughing again. Gaster turned around putting on a grumbly expression,

"Yeah, yeah Alo. And don't call me that! I hate my infernal first name." Gaster scowled, crossing his arms.

"Aw is the little baby grumpy." the dragon monster had a smile on his face, both his hands in his lab coat pockets. Gaster frowned,

"I am no baby Alo," What Gaster REALLY wanted to say was,

HOW DARE YOU CALL ME THAT

And he did, his hands moving around in his native language known as Wing dings; which ironically is his first name. Also laughed again, smoke coming out of his nose. The dragon monsters tail flicking back and forth.

"I'll never understand that language Dings." Alo said this gesturing towards Gaster's hands moving. Gaster sighed,

"I told you it's hard to learn if it's not your native language, if it's not talked in hands you use symbols and such," Gaster showed him by picking up a sheet of paper he had scribbled down messy notes on, the symbols looking perfect to Gaster but puzzling Alo. "And plus there are millions of different dialects, it's spoken by us skeletons only and over the years it's  up." Gaster set the sheer of paper back down actually resting his hands to his side, he was always speaking in hands and common, the universal monster language, at the same time. Alo shook his head at Gaster's small rant.

"Ok, Ok Dings I get it," Alo chuckled and then he added, "Ok now since you've seen that this obviously won't work and I am YOUR mentor, I need your assistance with something I'm currently working on." Gaster glanced back at his workspace and signed something in Hands.

"Ok Alo what are you working on?" Alo put a finger to his mouth in a whisper sort of way,

"Secret thing from the King, Ill tell you when we get to my room." Alo gave Gaster a wink. Gaster nodded, a small smile on his face grabbing his lab coat off his chair, flinging it on and following the dragon as he walked towards the elevator which led up to the second floor. Gaster walked out behind Alo and stopped as soon as he saw what he was working on. His hands moved faster then his voice, signing things he dare not say,

"What the heck?? A skull???.. No less a DRAGON skull. ALO WHAT THE HELL." He signed the last part as he looked at Alo not quite glaring.

"Dings chill it's artificial. And the king ASKED me to create this... as a weapon for the war." Alo looked away as he said this, as if he didn't exactly agree with what their current king wanted but did it anyway because as it has been said, Alo is the Royal Scientist. A Pearson meant to help the people no matter what. Gaster sighed loudly. The war the humans had declared a few days ago, because they were scared of monsters despite them being exceptionally stronger then any of us. Because if monsters were to... absorb human souls they would be exceptionally stronger then their own souls alone.

"What does it... do?.." Gaster looked at it, the.. skull had a huge jaw and blackened eye sockets almost staring into his very being making him shiver a bit. Alo put a hand on Gaster's shoulder comfortingly,

"It's like a canon. It fires pure raw magic out of its mouth." Gaster eyed the skull skeptically.

"Why do you need my help?" Alo rubbed the top of Gaster's head affectionately, he's come to like the young skeleton since the time the two had worked together. He had chosen well for an apprentice.

"Well I need someone to help test it and I figured you'd like to help with that." Gaster flinched back, his eye lights going dark. His face had a scared look about it.

"I-I can't I-I" Gaster said his grumpy demeanor dropping, he seemed to be signing the same thing over and over in Hands..

I can't, I'm not strong enough, my magic is unreachable by me, My soul can't handle it
Alo watched the shift in his speech, wishing for the millionth time he knew how to speak in Hands. Gaster seemed to be lost in a memory his hands going still as he sunk to the floor hugging his knees, not really looking at anything in particular. Alo has never seen him act like this EVER. He always seemed moody, but despite that he joked around and was mostly happy. Unless he was hiding a darker past... Alo shook his head and bent down next to the young skeleton trying to comfort him,

"Dings?.." Gaster flinched when he heard his name, but he looked up at Alo nonetheless,

"I'm sorry, I can't... my magic... it.. HuRts.." Gaster trailer off signing the last word unconsciously. Gaster then stood up briskly before Alo could wrap his arm around the smaller one. Gaster plastering his normal look back,

"Anyways you might want to get a... different test subject. Im not able to USE magic very much let alone fire PURE magic from that thing." Alo eyed Gaster as he said this... he mentally reminded himself to check up on Dings soul, but for now he asked skeptically but more concern laced his voice,

"How come?" Gaster's face melded into one of confusion. He didn't expect the dragon monster to ask anything about it. His voice dropped once more almost quiet,

"I don't.. know.." he summoned a small bone, bathed in light purple light before it fizzled out with a pop, the bone gone as any spent magic does. As that happened Gaster grimaced as his left eye going dark. Alo observed this and mentally took notes. Skeletons usually have more magic because they are MADE mostly of magic, but Gaster.... doesn't seem to have much at all. Alo sighed,

"Hmm interesting. Maybe we can look at your soul in the lab? I don't want any one else to test the blaster, I only trust you enough for this." Gaster looked up surprised but then his expression changed back to his normal one. He shrugged,

"Sure whatever, just don't kill me Alo."

"Aw my plans have been foiled." Gaster smiles at this and chuckled, wary about what secrets his soul may be keeping locked up.
