“Look at her.” A girl whispers loudly, enough for me to hear. “I know right? I can’t believe the school let in a girl like her.” Another one said. I can’t take it anymore. Why do they always pick on me, say some rumours about me while I’m standing right in front of them. They’d never even once said good morning to me nor even greet me with a smile. I’d never have anyone to talk to. Oh, God! When will I be happy and be with the normal people?!
Asking God something that I should be doing, I should have make a move on them and talk to them, but it was just damn too stressful. Before I could even go and get near, they would turn away from me. Am I that ugly?
I walked past some other people looking at me weirdly, but that’s not new to me. Nothing here is new to me. This is my everyday routine. I walked inside the classroom and people made way for me. It was like I was their princess, but why does it feel so sad? I took my seat and so did everyone else. Our home room teacher announced that there will be a new student this year. Oh dear, another add to the rumour spreaders group. Like the name? No? Okay…
“Students, remember that I told you yesterday, we’ll be having a new student here in our class. So I want everyone to be nice to the young lad and be friendly.” She said as she called out the guy’s name. “Mr Miller, please come in now and introduce you.”
“Yes ma’am!”
The door opened and reveals a fair skin toned good-looking boy, with dirty blonde hair, complete uniform attire, and such emerald green eyes were sparkling. Every girl awed in unison and every boy stared at him as he was now right in front of the class.
“Good morning. I’m Aaron James Miller, a new transferee. Nice to meet you.” He said as he gave out a simple yet charming smile to everyone. I admit, as he smiled my heart beat went fast to the point where I can’t count the sheep in my dreams anymore. I think I need a doctor! “Okay Aaron, go sit at the empty seat at the back for now.” She said as she points to a seat next to me. He just nodded and proceeded to the back. Seriously? Beside me?
I can sense all of those girls’ sending me some death glares without even glancing at them. Why me? Well, this is a good opportunity to have friend for the first time. This looks like a good shot for me to show those pesky girls that I can be as normal as they are. As I was looking out the window; daydreaming, I felt a hand touch my shoulder and can hear that someone was catching my attention. “Excuse me?” Aaron said. ‘H-He’s talking to me! What do I do? Okay Katelyn, just act normal. Yeah, not so hard right?’ I argued with myself. “Y-Yes?” I asked shyly. He was relieved at me answering back. His smile was from ear to ear. He reaches out his hand to me and gestured me to shake it. “I’m Aaron, how about you?” He asked. ‘He asked my name! The new kid asked my name! Okay, now I’m over reacting.’
“Katelyn. Katelyn Lee Johnson. I-It’s really nice to meet you Aaron.” I said as I took his hand and showed him a simple yet presentable smile. All eyes were at us, even the teacher. We turned back to our paces and continued on with the class.
*After class*
I was on duty for the garden today. It was our daily chores here at school. I was peacefully watering the plants when I heard a pot crashed right behind me. Of course, as a girl, I stumbled and fell forward from fright. Before I could stand up, I saw a group of girls surrounding me. ‘What do they want?’ I tried to stand up but to my injured feet, I fell back on my butt again. There was wound and the palm of my foot; it was because of the broken pot. Damn it.
“You were talking to the new kid before we could.” Ariel, the girl who leads the group. She has a short black hair, brown eyes that showed her beauty, rosy cheeks and a body that any man could desire. But with all of that beauty, they’re nothing if you have a very nasty attitude that makes people just wants to bitch slap you really hard. Just like how I want to do it right now at her.
“Know your place, maggot. You don’t have the beauty to even talk to him.” She said along with her five mischievous assistants. “She doesn’t need to have beauty to talk to anyone. In fact, I can see that she has more beauty than you, Miss.” Someone said from behind. Is that-? “A-Aaron?! W-What a surprise-“ “What a surprise indeed” He cuts her off and went through the girls to me.
“What are you doing?” I whisper-yell as he help me up, but failed. “You’re wounded.” He said plainly, without a second glance, he carried me off bridal style and went straight to the infirmary without looking at those girls.
We made it in time just to aid my wounded foot. “Does it still hurt?” He asked as the nurse went out do some of her business elsewhere. I shook my head a ‘no’ and smiled. “Thanks for earlier. I wouldn’t make it alive if it weren’t for you saving me.” I heard a chuckle as I finished my gratitude to him. “Do all the girls try to threaten you like that?” He asked. “No, just them. I have no idea why they even hold a grudge on me.” I said and left out a deep sigh. “Maybe it’s just because, people look at me differently from them. It’s like they think I’m just a weird nuisance. Plus, I’m very ugly to look at.” I added. Sharing him my life, showing who I am to him. Being this close to someone just makes me feel more and more alive than usual. Am I becoming normal? Or is it just me?
“You’re not ugly. You’re actually pretty cute.”
What did he just call me? C-Cute? Is this for real? Pinch me, I’m dreaming! I didn’t realize that I was spacing out while blushing the whole time. “W-What? N-No! T-That’s... I-It’s not... I mean I’m not!...” I stuttered. I was blushing out of embarrassment right in front of him. ‘What should I do, what should I do?!’ I was looking from left to right, finding something I could make a topic from, when suddenly I heard a laugh from him. Okay, I was fooled. *insert sweat face here*
I felt a hand land on my head and caressed it. I looked up to see him doing it and smiling down at me. Oh God, is he for real? Could it be that he’s my prince charming that would sweep me off of my feet? “Katelyn?” “Yeah?”
“Let’s be best friends!”
